walk (as others have said above)

if you can't be walking, sit up, don't lie down unless you need to in order to sleep -- but you may find it more comfortable to sleep sitting up anyway, don't assume you need to lie down to sleep.

when sitting up, if you can, be in a rocker or glider. Rock/glide and with the forward motion, cross your arms over your abdomen & chest & gently press towards your back

use a heating pad on your shoulder or wherever else you feel the gas pains

good luck!

Honestly the shoulder pain was the worst part of my surgery, it is still sore and I was sleeved 11/4. I'll tell you that meds DO work. I needed narcotics to help relax the shoulder, and combined with heat and walking I finally got relief. I ran out of my liquid pain meds, so I had to call the Dr Sunday night, he gave me the ok to take liquid motrin as long as I was taking my antacid. Please note, this usually is contraindicated bc motrin hard on the stomach and risks one for ulcers. I have to tell you that it was the best relief!!! If you are still hurting, you may want to run this by your dr and see if they'll let you take a couple doses of motrin. It gets better every day, I'm post op day 4 today and my shoulder still sore, and when I take a deep breath I still get a sharp pain in my shoulder (left one). It has to do w/the diaphragm and nerve involvement combined w/the gas. I just hate it, thats what I know.

It does take a while to wear off. I had the same with Post op Lap Band. I'm hoping to convert to GVS . I'm new here .. looking to learn more from ya'll here. But hang in there with that pain. I totally sympathize with you in that..

Hello! I too was sleeved on the 7th and I honestly had no way to be prepared for the pain in my shoulders. My stomach was sore obviously but damn that gas pain was just horrendous. I don't think I'm out of the woods because I'm definitely still a little sore but stretching my arms out and moving them as much as I can. My heating pad has been my savior since I got home! Congratulations on your surgery! I hope your getting better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
