Any other Scheduled October Bandsters out there??

Hi,

My name is Twyla and I am new here. I am scheduled for surgery on October 4th, and am excited, nervous, scared, anxious, and happy all at the same time. Anyone else feeling the same?? I am a registered nurse in Virginia. My husband and I have lived here for 5 years, but are originally from Southeast lower Michigan...most of our friends and family are still there. My husband is active duty Navy, currently on shore duty for the first time in 5 years. I have been researching the surgery and have chosen to have it done because I can loose weight with the best of 'em, but the trouble is I find it again almost as quickly. I have had the best success with the South Beach Diet, but only loose weight by sticking to phase 1 and exercising 2+ hours a day. The exercise schedule is just not realistic since I work 12 hour shifts as a labor and delivery nurse. I am scared getting in all of the fluids and eating slowly will be a challenge once I go back to work because at work we usually eat and drink when we can, and rarely take a full 15 minute break let alone 1/2 and hour for lunch. I am very motivated, and want to get rid of at least 80 #'s and keep it off for good. I weigh between 250 and 260 right now and it is my highest weight ever. My husband is very supportive, and actually proud of me for trying all of the diets realizing they were not a long term fix for me and now taking the next step to have lap band surgery. He is an amazing support system. I also have PCOS so insulin resistance makes it hard for me to feel full for long periods after eating. We are hoping by loosing weight I will increase my chances of becoming pregnant. We have been married 5 years now and have had no luck in that department because of the PCOS, but my endocrinologist says loosing the excess weight will most likely solve this problem. I am 26 years old and tired of feeling trapped in this body. I know I would be much more outgoing and enjoy life more if I felt comfortable in my skin. I look forward to chating with you all and supporting eachother through this journey!!

Hi Everyone I'm also getting banded in October! I'm so excited and feeling the same way most of you are. I'm scheduled for Monday Oct.8 With Dr.Corin in Modesto California

Hi everyone. I too just got approved and my surgery is hopefully going to be 10/2. I feel just like you, nervous, excited, anxious and wondering if I can do it all, but I WILL. I have 70 or more pounds to loose. We'll see what it will be as the pounds come off. Good luck. I'll try to figure out how to join the TenaciosTen group. Not very good at this posting stuff yet either. :clap2:

Aloha Twyla,

I'm Miriam, mom of six kids, three are bio. My last baby was a rough delivery only 9.5 months ago by C-section and this is why im at my biggest every. I actually got pregnant at 250lbs gained 35 and lost that back. I'm hovering there and have been there and back with many diets like you. My own doc who is a OB, told me about the band and got it herself two weeks ago. So i'm moving forward with this. I have several co-morbities beside the bmi of 45.?? I'm 5'4 and 250-260 too.. I have several appointments with the nutrionist, excercise specialist, psychologist, and PT in the next two weeks. I had a pulmonary function test done because of my asthma and must complete a stress echo this week. I once upon a time did Phen fen so doc wants to check that out. Im scheduled for surgery on 10-2. My baby will be 10 months then. I just quit nursing her and planned to continue but my hospital stay and the drugs administered prompted me to stop this past week. Baby is good and i gave it a good run.. so onward and upward to take care of me so i can be here for them....

Miriam

Aloha from Hawaii

Also set for Oct 4th. I am ready for this but at the same time feel like I am under prepared. The new diet and way of eating I live just outside New Orleans and great food is just a way of life almost feel like I am saying farewell to an old friend

We WELCOME one and all who are getting banded in October 2007.....

Looking forward to meeting everyone.....

I am set for Oct 4th, day two of the optifast pre surgery diet. It is not too bad, the only time it is difficult is once I’m home. Any body else on a pre op diet?

Hi Banders,

I will be banded on October 9th in Dallas,Tx.Can't wait, my prayer will be that we all achieve long term weight loss without any complications. I'am so grateful to God for this opportunity,be blessed banders

~just discovered this site too! Double ditto to Twyla & Beth & Karen. I'm scheduled for 10/12/07 in TJ mexico w/Dr. Ortiz. Need to call again to get going on my pre-op. A bit nervous though, still waiting for surgery loan(s) to come through or I may have to reschedule..I'm kinda anxious (and embarrased to admit) that if I have to push back my surgery date...i won't be on solid food by the time Thanksgiving comes around...and I won't be able to eat my moms famous mashed sweet potatoes! I know its all about sacrifice, but seriously, i started w/ Thnxgving day, and counted backwards to allow myself "maximum healing time" so I could enjoy sweet potatoes...is that deranged or what? anyone else have those thoughts when scheduling surgery?

HI, My name is Trudy. I am scheduled for lapband surgery on

October 5th @ Harper Hospital in Detroit. Like others, I am excited & nervous. I would love to join this group for support,

encouragement etc. Best wishes to all.

lgmb..... You are not the only one stressing out about Thanksgiving... My surgery is scheduled for the 16th of October and I should be able to eat regular food, but I'm so worried about the turkey and dressing getting stuck and then I will PB and I want some sweet potatoes real bad and pumpkin pie, etc, etc.....

Trudy.... Thanks for the nice wishes.. Best wishes back atcha. This is such great place for us to share in the encouragement and support.... I'm so looking forward to getting my band..

The TENaciousTENS Oct '07 support group has updated it's ROLL CALL today, and I've added the Oct newbies I found here. If you haven't done it yet, please go introduce yourself at: Monthly Support Groups>October 07> ...."roll call!"
