Hi RP, I ran into the same problem as you when I came out to the San Francisco area... I have found a Dr that will give fills and he is located in SF.. His name is Dr Gregg Jossart and his number is 415-561-1310.. I haven't gone to him yet so I don't know anything about him... I did call his office and his gal seems very nice... Another one is Dr Feng, 650-685-2959... I didn't call him, so I don't even know for sure where he is located, I just got his name and number from someone... Hopefully that will help you in your search...

Hi Simon, I had my surgery last October and I also live full time in my motorhome... I went straight from the hospital to my motorhome and my husband helped me with all of my pain meds, getting up and down, etc... I'm not sure that you will feel like getting up and doing much the first 2 or 3 days, so you will need someone there to help you... I slept in the recliner the first few days as it was easier than trying to roll around in bed... So, those are the few things you may want to keep in mind if you want to spend some time in your camper... Whatever you do, you do not want to be there alone, you will need someone there to help out... Congratulations on your surgery and starting your new journey...

Welcome to all of the new people who have just been or will be banded by Dr K... He is the greatest Dr as well as all the the sweet gals in the office.. The super support group right here on this thread and the original thread just rounds out the whole package... I would like to invite everyone to come on over to the original thread "Considering Dr Kirshenbaum" and meet the rest of Dr K's gals and token guy with the band... Hope you all had a nice 4th...

Wow, Maire that's great 20 lbs in 2 months, you are doing terrific... I sure hope that you don't have to pay the high prices for a fill and I wish you continued success in your weight loss journey... I had my band put on by Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, Colorado and of course I wouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg to get my fills from him, if I could just get there... I just wish that the Dr's out here were a little more compassionate and not charge so much for a fill which is actually what makes us successful in our weight loss... I really can't afford to go in very often for a fill, so I'm not sure if I will ever get to my sweet spot or lose much more weight... I just won't be able to get the fills I need as I can't afford the $350 that often... I've already had to go 5 months between fills because I couldn't afford a plane ticket back to Colorado and the other Dr's I contacted out here wanted $450 a fill... I am getting real frustrated with the whole thing... I spent all my savings on this band and now I can't afford the upkeep on it...

Hi Maire, Dr Husted charges $350 per fill also, which seems pretty pricey to me, but I have found that everything is expensive in California... However, he does go to either San Francisco or Fairfield which both of those places is close to me as I am in Petaluma... I will be going in for my fill on July 7th and I am looking forward to that as I am so overdue for a fill... How long have you had your band? How many fills have you had? Are you losing weight? I was banded on October 16th of last year and have only had 2 fills and I do not feel any restriction... It has been 5 months since my last fill and I have gone back to my bad eating habits and starting to gain weight... So, I need to get back on track... I will let you know how things go with my fill...

I will let you know how the fill goes... I had a nice chat with Lori when I called and right away I felt comfortable with the office... She is a sweetheart and put me at ease... I'm so looking forward to getting this fill, as I am wayyyy overdue for one... My husband has been wanting to go to the Jellybelly factory, so we might take a quick tour after I get done with my fill... :blushing: I'll be getting back with you and let you know how it goes...

I am in desperate need of finding a Dr that will do fills for me in the Oakland, Sacramento or San Francisco area... I got my band in October 2007 from Dr Kirschenbaum in Aurora, Colorado and have only had 2 fills and it feels like I have zero, zip, nada restriction... With airfares getting up there in price, I would like to find a Dr closer to where I am to get regular fills so I can lose some weight.... I have not lost any weight for the last 6 months and now I think I am starting to gain... I did find a Dr in San Francisco that would do the fills but, at $450 a fill, I would have had to take out a loan each time I needed a fill... :laugh: I am real discouraged about the whole thing... I can't afford to fly to Colorado all the time and I can't afford the Dr's that are close by... I can pretty much eat anything and everything that I want right now... Every once in a while food will get stuck if I don't chew good enough... I lost 25 pounds between the pre-op diet and initial surgery loss in October and that's it... The scale has not moved since... Actually, I have gained back 4 pounds... Sorry for the whining.... I just hope someone can give me the name of a Dr that I can go to out here....

Therere more people on that thread that could possibly help you out since you are traveling alone..... Is there any way that you could bring someone with you?? That would be the best way to go.... They bad thing about lemonade is that it causes teeth problems unless you brush your teeth after you have had a glass of it... The acid in it sits in your mouth and causes tooth decay..... When I heard that I realized why my dad's teeth have all broken off at the gums, he drinks at least 2 glasses of lemonade every day...

Saintluver..... I use GNC Whey Protein powder.... It comes in a variety of flavors and I really like it alot.... My favorite is banana creme... There are 20 grams of protein per scoop and about 110 calories... My nutritionist says it is good because it is within the calorie range she feels is good.. I buy the 3 pound size and it lasts for a long time... I have several flavors and don't use the same flavor each time.... They have smaller 1 pound sizes...

Hi Peaches..... I have been at a standstill for over a month and haven't lost any weight... I did pretty good right after surgery in October and then after that my weight loss dropped off until it just stopped... I'm pretty frustrated right now, I have stepped up my exercise and hopefully that will help get me started losing again.... Congratulations on your weight loss of almost 58 pounds.... That's great!!

No Wasa, it is not a problem for me, this is a free country and you can disagree with my POV... However, I merely stated my satisfaction with my Dr here in the States... Just because yours happens to be in Mexico and just a couple of hours away from you doesn't make one hill of difference to me... You have your Dr that did your surgery and you are happy with him, just as I am happy with mine..... I happen to travel alot and therefore I can fly back to Colorado and see Dr Kirshenbaum for fills as well as seeing children, grandchildren and other family members who still live there which works alot better for me, just as it works better for you to go to Mexico.... I still don't know who put the burr under your saddle, but I refuse to pull myself down to your level and get into a pissing match with you...... Have a good evening.....

Hi Peaches..... You are probably right about eating too fast or taking too big of bites and causing food to get stuck.... I'm not sure I have restriction because I can eat way more than a cup of food and not feel full... I get stuck only once in a while and that is from the above mentioned reasons.... I really do need to take more time chewing and eat slower....

WillyWonka.... I agree with you whole hardedly... Dr Kirshenbaum did my surgery and I am very happy with him and his great office staff... I fly back to him for my fills and don't have to worry about finding a Dr in the States that will do my fills.... He is an excellent Dr.....

P.S.... ThinAgainJann.... If you have not made a decision on your Dr for surgery, I would like to suggest my Dr Kirshenbaum in Denver, Colorado.... He charges $9950 and that is for everything including 3 months followup and fills, after that fills are only $15... Dr K and his staff are the greatest and he truly cares about his patients.... There is a couple of threads about Dr Kirshenbaum started by his patients under the "Doctors and Hospital" category.... There is also a link to his website under my signature.... Good Luck......

ThinAgainJann..... My DH and I spend our summers in Petaluma, CA which is about 40 miles north of San Francisco in the heart of the Sonoma wine country.... The summer weather is so nice and we really like it there ..... Phil.... We are currently in Yuma, AZ and are wanting to go to Quartzite.... Have you gone there yet?? I have been thinking it would be nice to meet up with you and Sharon160 if we can work out a date to meet..... Hi Everyone.... I too do not feel any restriction after my first 2 fills... However, with this second one food wants to get stuck more often and I get out my pineapple juice and take a couple of small sips and in a few seconds the stuck food passes on through.... I went to the store and bought a six pack of 6 oz cans of Dole Pineapple Juice... I works like magic for me and I have put a can in my purse in case I am out in public and food gets stuck.... Hi Snappy..... Yes, you can be overfilled and you may need a slight unfill... It sounds like your band may be irritated from everything getting stuck and if I may suggest that you go on liquids for 24-48 hours to let it settle down.... Then try small bites and chew, chew, chew and if it still gets stuck, I would go in for a slight unfill.....

I love Hillary... She has been there done that and knows way more about making change than any of the others... She is so much more experienced and has a former President as her own personal consultant.... Obama is a good guy, but I have a hard time putting someone in the Whitehouse with a name of Barack "Hussein" Obama..... It just doesn't seem right to me.... John Edwards is a nice guy also but, he didn't and hasn't held an office long enough to have the experience needed for the job and I really dread the thought of "on the job training" for our President of the United States... None of the other Democratic candidates impress me and since I'm a Democrat, I'm not listening to any of the Republican debates...

Hey all, the pineapple juice is a magic potion... I was eating some broccoli salad yesterday and apparently didn't chew very well again and it got stuck.... I was in such bad pain I was ready to scream, but I got out my pineapple juice and took a couple of small sips and after about a minute just like magic I felt it go plop.... I then took a few more small sips and rested my band for awhile before trying to eat again.... But what a relief to get food unstuck so quickly and not slimming or PBing... I now make sure that I have pineapple juice in the cupboard...
