Thanks IndioGirl for your post.... It is very enlightening and encouraging... Everything you said is right on!!! I go in on the 11th for my second fill and I am looking forward to it so I can hopefully get some restriction... I don't feel like I have any restriction right now and even though I try to make the right food choices, I can still eat way too much and end up caving in to head hunger at night and go for the sweets.... As you said "I need to step up to the plate and take responsibility for myself".... I have enjoyed reading many of your other posts and they have all been so upbeat and encouraging..... Thanks again for your post, it is much needed and appreciated...

Wow, Bandster what your Dr said is right on!! I will be getting my second fill on the 11th and it is none to soon.... Since I don't feel like I have any restriction from my first fill I have gained a couple of pounds... I try very hard every day to make the right food choices and for the most part I do, the problem is that I am eating way to much again at my meals and then by the end of the day I give in to temptation from the head hunger and end up having sweets... I need to pick up the pace on my exercise so I can look 100 pounds thinner... I have been very lax in that department and there is even a workout room in the RV park that I am staying at, so I really don't have any excuses.... Thanks for your post, it is inspirational and has got me thinking in a more positive direction....

This is a great thread.... I quit smoking a little over two years ago after smoking for 45 years... It was the best thing I did for my health, but I started eating much, much more and ended up putting on 40-50 pounds in a year so now I've got the band to help me lose the weight.... Hopefully I don't find another addiction and I totally agree with the dysfunctional family and alcoholic parent, I had both....

glynda.... Look for wasabubblebutt, she went to him about a year ago and is doing fantastic... she met her goal weight in 10 months and goes back to him for her fills.... Good luck to you.....

Hi Butterball.... Sorry to hear that you are having problems... When did you have your band surgery? Have you had any fills? Are you eating too fast and too big of bites? Have you spoken to your Dr about it? You may need a slight unfill and it sounds like your band is irritated from vomiting all the time.... Perhaps you can go back on liquids/mushies like I suggested to Stacy in my last post... Good luck and Be Well........

Hi Stacy.... I can understand why you would not want to get a slight unfill especially if it would put you back to where you were.... It sounds to me like the bread on the hot dog is your problem.... A lot of people cannot eat bread and actually it is not recommended since it can get stuck very easily... Also, there is the possiblility that your band may be irritated from the slimming and PBing and if I may make a suggestion that you might want to go on liquid/mushy foods again for a day or two to let your band settle down a bit before you try eating solid foods again.... IMHO it is not normal or natural to PB or slime on a daily basis, let alone several times a day.... It sounds like the band is too tight and you may need a slight unfill... You also stand a very good chance of causing your band to slip with all of the PBing... A call to your Dr. ASAP would probably be a good thing...

pineapple juice works great when stuck... I had that happen to me with noodles from "Cup of Noodles"... I took two really big bites of noodles and and didn't chew well and they promptly got stuck... The pain was so intense that I was screaming with pain... I finally remembered about the pineapple juice and took a couple of very small sips and just like magic the noodles passed through my band... Before I was banded I had read somewhere on here that pineapple juice and meat tenderizer worked good for getting food unstuck, so I went out and bought me a six pack of 6 oz cans of Dole Pineapple Juice and keep it on hand.... I also have some meat tenderizer and know of someone who put it in some warm Water and took sips and she said it worked well for her... So there you go, you can take your choice... After I was able to get unstuck with the pineapple juice, I have been careful to take small bites and chew, but I also need another fill... I'm not feeling much restriction right now...

There is a thread for us that are 50 and over... It is a good group of us and great support... Hopefully this link works for you... How is weight loss for people over 50?

I am self pay and I went to Dr Kirschenbaum in Denver, Colorado and got my band on 10/16/07... He charges $9950 for everything and that includes 3 months aftercare and fills... After that fills for his patients is $15... He is a great Dr and cares about his patients.... He is the US alternative to Mexico... There are 2 threads on Dr Kirschenbaum under "Doctors and Hospitals"... A bunch of his patients post there and have a little support groupie going with the threads.... Check out one of the threads and ask questions.... His website address is below my signature..... Good Luck to you on your search....

I'm right there with you on feeling guilty and have cheated so much it's downright pitiful.... :cheated: About 2 days after my first fill I have been able to eat anything and everything that I want with no problems and I'm feeling like such a failure... I have been having one big pity party and went back into hiding again so that no one would know that I have been pigging out and I wouldn't have to explain to anyone why I haven't lost any weight, but have gained a couple of pounds in the last 3 weeks..... I am praying that my second fill will help me.... I am self pay and my DH is thinking that the money was all for naught.... I really need to have some restriction to make me stop eating so much.... :hungry: Thanks for listening to me whine and snivel..... :think

My January goal is to get my second fill and hope that it gives me some restriction so that I will eat more sensibly and start losing weight again... :clap2:

IMHO I think that you are all worrying about nothing... I have put my trust in Dr K and his protocol rather than in others... The other posters Dr's have different requirements and they are going by what their Dr says... I don't believe that one Dr's requirement is any better than another.... want2bemeagain..... I'm doing good, I will be in Denver and go for my second fill on January 11th... Maybe we can get together... I will fly back on Monday the 14th... PM me....

Hey want so bad, you are not alone in this... I feel like I have failed miserably at this and I'm so afraid that I have stretched my pouch or I have a leak... I can eat anything I want without any problems, which includes eating way too much... My next fill is not until January 11th.... Keep us all informed of what your Dr says and how your fill goes....

Hello Frank and Welcome to the Dr K group... Congratulations on your band date... Are you coming from Washington with someone?? Hopefully you will not be traveling alone... We are happy to have you joining us and keep posting and let us know how you are doing... want2bme..... Good to see you back posting again.... I have been lurking but not posting much lately either.... Time is drawing near for our trip to Arizona, we will be leaving Monday... It was so good to be able to get together with you while we were here... munchkin..... At least now you can pack more shoes since you only need one...... That sure is funny that you break your foot every year at the same time..... I think next year this time I would stay home and hide out for a couple of weeks... :girl_hug: lafs..... That's great on your first fill.. Mine is doing ok too and I'm eating less, but it is more than a couple of spoonsful..

Hey Munchkin..... What did you do to your foot that you need a cast??? :eek: threedogpeople...... PB stands for "Productive Burp".... I went in Tuesday for my first fill and things did not go well.... Since I came in by myself and have needle phobia, I asked Natalie if she would come into the room with me.... I think that my port may have moved since Dr K had a hard time finding it on the first try.... He finally used the ultrasound and found my port and then all went well, but everything prior to that was very, very painfull and I think I squeezed Natalie's hand so hard I could have broken it.... Munchkin..... You have made the right choice by going to Dr K for your surgery, he is just the kindest most understanding Dr.... everyone in his office are the greatest and all of the people at Crown Point surgery center are top notch... However, I am a little concerned that you are coming by yourself, but hopefully someone here will be able to help you out.... I will be gone to Arizona or I would volunteer to help you out.... Rosey..... I sounds like the meeting on Tuesday was a good one..... It's too bad that one person was so inconsiderate of all the others and monopolized the conversation.... Keep your fingers crossed that they won't show up next month.... Hope everyone has a good weekend.....

This is a great thread and a much needed thread where anyone can post their thoughts and feelings or share their band journey with us all.... I like the fact that everyone is welcome and will get support from us when in need... Dr K's groupie is growing by leaps and bounds and we all like to be able to post and have someone take notice and reply with support or understanding whether we are a year banded, just a few days banded or soon to be banded and I hope this thread keeps that momentum.... Those are just my thoughts....

Hi Mare.... I'm going to try my hardest to be there Tuesday night... Those were some nice pictures of your Saturday afternoon get together, just the four of you... Lap Dancers post with all of the wonderful fall colors were great.... It sounds like she had a turn around trip and unfortunately she didn't have access to the internet to let you know she couldn't make it.... Hopefully there will be a larger group on Tuesday.... I'm looking forward to seeing you again... BTW, I'm doing great after my surgery and have lost 20 lbs so far, so I am pleased... I go in for my first fill right after Thanksgiving... I have been busy helping my daughter recover from her surgery, so I haven't been around much.... Want2b...... That story is way too funny about the shock collar..... It could only happen to you... What a hoot.... I would like to meet up with you on Friday while you are in town getting your second fill.... Lets set up a place and time.....
