Sent by mistake before I was finished and can't figure out how to Delete! Just Google the requirements. Your medical center will have its own requirements too. I think the psychological visit was part of my hospital program. After I did the requirements, the insurance approved all in a day or two. It was great. Paid for virtually everything. Best of luck to you!

I have Tricare Prime. As long as you are 40 BMI or greater, or 35 with 2 co-morbidities (that's me), you're good. Tricare didn't have any weight loss surgery requirements; However, my surgeon did. I had 3 visits with a dietician, 1 per month. I had to attend a support group, get a psych eval, EGD and physical therapy consult. I started the process July 22nd and my surgery is Nov 1st. Basically it has been a 3 month process. Tricare won't pay for the nutrition visits, but paid everything else, minus my co-pays. I've spent about $200 out-of-pocket, not to include the special Vitamins and Meal Replacement shakes. I feel like it's been a pretty smooth process. It's been a good time for learning and changing my eating habits. When my final paperwork was sent to Tricare for approval, it only took 1 day to get my acceptance. Good luck with everything!

I am Tricare Prime West. My seminar was in March. 1st visit with surgeon in May. Surgery 10/18. The drs requirements took longer than tricare. Once completed and sent for authorization, 10 days to approval. 35bmi with 2 comorbidities. Paid out of pocket for nutritionist and psych to avoid delay. MTF tried to hijack any referrals.

I am Triwest. I had to have 3 documented doctor apts for weight lose. I am in Tricare Prime and the nutritionist visits are covered. I had my sleeve done May 24, 2016. Two weeks post op I ended up with a blood clot in my portal vein, intestine and two in my lungs. Luckily for me I do not have to be seen on base because they wouldn't have caught the clots. Anyway just last week I had to have my gallbladder out because of so much weight lose. I am will be 5 months out Monday and will be 70lbs down! Surgery even with the complications has been the best thing I have ever done. All of my care has been done at the local hospital here in Boise ID and I have yet to pay even a dollar. Good luck to all of you with your journey!

Was you on blood thinners when you left the hospital?

No, I only had them during my two days in the hospital post-op. I have never had problems with blood clots before so there was no reason to stay on them at the tim. Thinking back that is probably why it was two weeks post-op that I went back in the hospital.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
