11 months and need some assistance

Recommended Posts

Nov 16th I will be 1 year post. I have an appointment on the Nov 23rd and I'm stressing to hear those hurtful words come from the doctor. "I expected better results from you!" To give yall an idea I started my journey at 238lbs and went down to 162lbs. In the last few months I have not lost I have gained now back to 170lbs. Not motivated and stressed out leads me to give those famous excuses we all pray we will stop making. I eat horrible food out of boredum always justifying why and encouraging myself that tomorrow I will get back on track. When I talk to people outside the wls circle they say we all make mistakes and look at your progress. NOPE I feel like a complete failure and am disgusted with my new/old habits. Any advice from someone who has found them self in this vicious cycle?

I haven't had surgery yet but has ur doctor made hurtful comments before or do you assume he will due to past bbegative experiences in your pre surgery days?

I suggest make a plan of action you know you plan in doing like seeing the NUT and maybe therapist too? Why are yiu continuing to self sabatoge this tool?? Emotional eating perhaps? You acknowledge and recognize there is a problem si that's awesome now it's time to seriously intervine and get help to reverse this pattern!! I believe if your doctor is any good, he will recognize the issues, patterns, be happy y didn't just disappear and will help and not ridicule you!!

Hi!

I'm nearly 7 months post-op.

I have a huge compulsion problem. None of my tips work alone, but together they're helping me a lot.

- buy new clothes. it feels amazing.

- stay away from temptation. I actually have to talk my self out of going to fast-food joints, to just GO HOME.

- make your home a good environment: only healthy food.< /p>

- know that it's okay to feel angry and frustrated.

- also know that 20 chicken nuggets will only make you more frustrated. I actually say that to myself: remember how miserable it feels after you're done eating.

- I've been in therapy and frankly it saved my life.

- talk to friends and family about it.

- see photos of you at the hospital. do it for the past you, the one suffering from gas pains.

- negotiate with yourself: ok, I can eat nuggets, but only after I eat this mini-carrot. If you feel full you're less likely to give in.

(as you can see nuggets are my achilles heel)

- yoga helps with anxiety and it's a good hobby.

As with any addiction, admitting it is half the battle. You know what your doing, and you also know how to use healthy eating to lose. Start immediately and go into your next appointment with a plan and ask for help executing it.

It's not too late and you are worth fighting for! Get it girl!

I have similar stats as you except I was sleeved 12/15. 237 day of surgery 170 now. I feel great! My doc is happy and most the people I know have lost around the same. I know I'd have better results if I work out more do that is my issue and yes better choices. My perfect goal is 135- 145 but I think I'd be happy at 150-160. My point is I only have 25-30 ish lbs to go. That is totally doable. Everyone says the last 20 are the hardest.

Now trust me I get down on myself about it but reading your post put it in my face and made me realize how far we have come. Don't be so negative and down!

I ate a full chocolate bar tonight. Good idea, no but it's done time to move on :-) believe me I stress all the time and then do nothing but seeing someone else in the same spot helps to know I'm not alone.

Maybe we can help each other through. Compare weekly. Kinda like weight watchers being held accountable.

Good luck, I'm here for ya!

I am so sorry that you are struggling.

Have you talked to your NUT about your challenges and goals?

Are you attending support group meetings?

Are you seeing a therapist?

Have you considered attending recovery meetings or other support group meetings like Overeaters Anonymous? You can find meeting lists and other resources online at OA.org.

In the meantime, go back to basics.

Are you tracking your food?

Are you drinking at least 64 oz of Fluid a day?

Are you reaching your Protein target every day?

Are you avoiding starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods?

Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Are you exercising?

Are you getting enough restful sleep?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
