Sleeved 9/19 How are you feeling?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved and hernia repair on September 19th also. Not so sore, but when I drink, my God the spasms! I should be getting 32 oz of fluids a day and it's not happening, 18-24 oz. It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour and a half to eat a 1/2 a cup of Jello or My Weight chicken broth. I just don't want anything. I assume lack of fluids and Protein is why I stay so tired. No poop for me either...my going often to pee stopped the day after I came home from the hospital on Wed... no constant fluids running through my veins. My biggest concern is my lack of fluids and the spasms.

Good morning 9/19ers!

It's a big day for me - my first day of full liquids. I can't believe I have survived on IV fluids, drugs, cranberry juice, G2 and Water for the last 6 days. This surgery makes you incredibly strong mentally.

I'm sipping a Premier shake and it's going down like wet sand. Fully expect to take 30 minutes to get the whole thing down. Hopefully it's not going to cause any issues.

Hang in there. It does get better. I am almost four weeks out and the pinching has finally stopped unless my stomach is completely empty. I was told to eat soft Protein as soon as I got home form the hospital. Yogurt and cottage cheese every four hours and Protein Drink in between. Only able to eat 3-4 oz. at a time. It took me 5 days to have a bowel movement. I actually went back on pain meds and that helped because I was in too much pain to bear down. The stool softener helped but you have to have some kind of solid food in your stomach when you take it. Also, if you are only on clear fluids what do you have in your intestinal tract to eliminate? Eating soft Protein also helps to keep the pain level down. Good Luck!

Well I have been feeling much better than I was, so thank you to all who replied and. Glad to see so many of us on the same path. Makes you feel not so lonely. I see my dr tues and will be approved for stage 2 which will be adding Protein shakes. I can't wait. I have noticed that when I added the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup with Protein I instantly felt better. The week of no protein is for the birds. I am so glad I ordered an Unjury sample pack. I am using their unflavored protein with boullion cubes as well. I had a TERRIBLE bout of Constipation. I had fleet enemas to help. Omg I hope I never get it again and will ask about miralax to my dr on tues. My one cut hurts SO BAD. My tummy is tender there. It is SO hard to get up and down and I am still hunched over. I was so scared to take pain pills but I have been taking half the pain pills each day and it has helped. I finally got sleep too without waking every hour. Sure am glad to have all your comments here. Xox

Hello. Fellow 9/19 sleever here. All-in-all it seems like I've had a pretty non-eventful recovery. Day +1 in the hospital was tough to get in all the liquid the dr. wanted (about 10oz). But every day I've been feeling better by leaps and bounds. Came home on Tuesday (9/20) evening.

Pain & discomfort are completely manageable. Haven't had the need to use any of the prescribed pain meds since I've been home. I did use liquid tylenol on a couple of occasions, but I think the last was on thursday. Only real discomfort now (and it's pretty minor) is at the main incision site when I get out of bed. The incision sites seem like they're healing up, because they're starting to itch like crazy. I work mostly from home, and for the past couple of days I have been able to spend as much time as I need to at my desk without feeling uncomfortable. Only issue on that front is the energy level. I've taken more naps in the last week than I have since my kids were babies.

Up to about 48 oz of Water a day, and able to do 3 Protein shakes plus a couple of other smooth/liquid meals (soup, pudding, yogurt) per day. Walking around fine, and the energy level is finally starting to increase. I feel like I'm ready for soft foods, but I'm not doing anything until my Dr. tells me to at my follow up visit on 9/29.

sleeping was a little tough at first, but now seems pretty good. And last night I was able to actually sleep on my side for a while (I'm a big side sleeper).

Had some issues with gas early on, but found that the Gas-X strips do a great job managing that quickly.

First poop was on Friday, 9/23, and I've been pretty regular since.

Biggest challenges now are getting the liquid and Protein in and increasing the amount that I'm walking. The liquid diet is getting a little boring, but I'm hopeful that I'll get the thumbs up on Thursday and I can go until then with no problem.

I was also sleeved on 9/22. When I needed to take some pain medication, I dissolved the pill in a little bit of Water and then drink it. It did take a while to dissolve, but it worked well for me.

Well I had my worst day BY FAR - and all because of poop. I'll spare the gory details but I spent a total of 3.5 hours on the commode today trying to birth this thing. It was misery. Got my Water in but could only manage half a Premier and a couple spoonfuls of Greek yogurt. From here on out its miralax, a stool softener and a couple shots of prune juice every day.

Omg I feel for you. Trust me. I had the worst. I was constipated for 2 days. Hours on commode, in shower, about 4 fleet enemas, crying, pain. But I won! Took 2 days to heal my rear with Vaseline. Omg so horrible. I bought miralax. I have not used it yet. I also bought wal mart equate stool softeners. They are stimulant free. I can't use ducolax and all those they cause cramps in my stomach and bowel. No thanks. But I noticed since my episode I have been good. Hopefully I never experience that again in my life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
