It's ketosis. Since we are not eating much at all after surgery, it sends our bodies into a state of ketosis. I hear the bad breath will cease once we start eating a more balanced diet. In the meantime (also helps with the nausea!), I've been sucking on sugar free spearmints. It helps a bit.

Good luck!!

I'm sure it is Ketosis. I was under the impression that I'd be low carbing until I reach goal. Hopefully I still have friends and the love of my husband by then if that's the case.

I've used mints, increased mouthwash and brushing.

it depends on your plan. Some surgeons recommend ultra-low carb plans, others don't. And some people "low carb" even if their plan doesn't require it because they find it easier to lose weight when they "low carb".

I'm one week post op today. Last night, I went to take a drink of Water, but I exhaled in the glass before I sipped. I was like, "what is wrong with my Water? Why does it smell so bad?" I sniffed it again, but then I realized it was my breath. Holy hell. I was shocked. Glad to know there's relief for it on the horizon!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
