Clumping and burning - ISOPURE non-flavored Protein

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 days post-op and have been doing very well getting my liquids in (or at least I think so). Yesterday, I added a scoop of Isopure to my Soup, and I was able to gag it down okay. I don't like luke warm Soup and I definetly am not a fan of clumps of powder in my soup. Today, I had the bright idea of cooking it into the soup. What a disaster. Most of it burned to the bottom of the pan and what remained that I tried to consume, had chunks of Protein clumps. After a few sips and a very terrible pain my chest, I gave up.

I really don't like drinkng the sweet stuff. I'm drinking the Premier Protein shakes (2 a day) and I also have the flavored Isopure Fruit drinks. They are all so sweet, I can't stand them. Any suggestions on adding the mix to either soup or something non-sweet???? My surgeon wants me getting at least 80 g of Protein in a day....

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

Naomi

I'm on the liquid diet right now. It's not listed in my "options," but creamy Soups are so I'm not sure why V8 wouldn't work? I'll have to give it a try. I've heard about the unjury chicken soup. I'm looking at it right now and considering a purchase as I type...

You can't add most Protein to really hot foods and if you cook most Protein powders you ruin them.

The chicken Soup from unjury is a good option for something savory.

other than that, I would slowly add my protein to my warm broth with a whisk and that created few clumps.

Get a thermometer you will thank yourself. The unjury starter kit comes with one.

As stated not good to risk anything over 140 and you get clumps or worse. I made mistake of dumping my powder in Starbucks provided hot Water while outside of house and immediately produced a chicken powder hockey puck. If you have correct temp all should mix well.

Ditto mixing it with warm Water and adding it to your Soup our other hot liquids. Messed it up a few times myself before someone clued me in. Putting it in before heating it up made it horribly gritty.

I'm one week post op! Down 12 lbs. im so over sweets. I started mixing my Protein powder with muscle milk to try and gag down 50mg of Protein in one shake. I had Tomato Soup tonight and it was absolutely the best thing I have had in my mouth in 8!days. Just a few spoonfuls changed my life! Lol I see my dr Wednesday and going to HOPEFULLY get some ideas on variety, I wish everyone luck on their new adventure and all the protein and lack of chewing has not changed my mind one bit..... Super happy with surgery choice!

My surgeon said I could use nonfat plain Greek yogurt and cottage cheese during this phase (because they turn to a liquid). I've been using them now for abbot 3 days. I mix a scoop of the Isopure powder in with a quarter cup of either, blend it really good, and take tiny little bites. If I start to hurt, I stop and put it away. It takes me about an hour to get through it, but it's not the nasty sweet stuff :-). It's also not very tasty, but tasty can get me in trouble so I'm okay with it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
