Concerned friends ... Do you really want to do this?

After six months of preparation, my surgery is Oct. 3rd. I am so excited and feel like it a new start. Of course, I am scared. Scared about surgery ...Am I going to succeed? BUT, I just keeping telling myself that I am going to do amazing. I have no choice!! I want to have energy again. I feel like I in the right mind set.

Anyone experience the same situation before surgery ??

Lori. I don't have a date yet. I have the same feelings about life style changes to get the weight off and keep it off. Good luck to you. I look forward to hearing about your progress

I have lost a lot of weight during my six-month required pre-op diet program, so my friends are all saying the same thing. When I explain to them that I still have another 100+ pounds to lose, and that the surgery is going to be a tool to anchor the second half of the weight loss AND (more importantly) the lifelong maintenance, they usually see the point, and become very encouraging.

I had to go to an urgent care center about 1 week before my surgery on 10/3/16 and found out I had gout. The doctor there actually tried to talk me out of the surgery. He congratulated me on my current loss of 30 pounds but told me because I am in a commuter relationship and happy and very healthy looking I should not have it. When I told him it my choice to,have the surgery as a tool for healthy weight maintenance he backed off and was happy for my resolve. Sometimes I think, they try to test how willing you are to stick to the change and use your tool.

Our Cardiologist and Internist were both very supportive of our being sleeved, 100 percent. They are still supportive three years later, seeing the difference in our health and lives.
