I had my sleeve on July 13th and have only lost 16 pounds. I am at the end of week 7. I am very depressed by this. I hear many stories of others losing 30 - 40 pounds in this same amount of time. I know everyone is different and everyone loses in their own way but how do I get past this and get weight coming off? I am journaling everything, drinking my Water and getting in my Protein. I don't know what to do to speed it up. I am exercising some but I have a foot problem and am having surgery in 2 weeks. I am riding the bike and some small weights about 3 times a week.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Though it's hard not to, you shouldn't compare your progress with others. Some people have BMI's well above yours, so they will lose weight faster. There are several factors that make weight loss easier for some more than others. As long as you are doing what you're supposed to, have faith that it will come off.

Also, keep in mind that some people post their TOTAL weight loss...not just the amount lost from surgery. My stats show 45 pounds lost but that's total. I have lost 31 since surgery, and most of that was in the first month. I've only lost 8 pounds in the second month post-op.

What are you eating? Are you avoiding breads and starches? For me what works is staying very low carb.

I have eaten a few carbs like creamed potatoes but not often and not very much.

Mine has been slow too but like my doctor said today its a marathon not a sprint. Most who lose fast sadly gain it back. So I'm ok with slow:)

My suggestion is to stop worrying and comparing yourself with other people's weight loss. This is a journey that takes time. The weight will come off. I lost 2lbs a week for 8 months. I didn't lose my hair and I felt great. Good luck.

It's so frustrating. I've lost 24 pounds and I'm 3 months post op (38 if you count pre- op, which I don't) 16 pounds month 1, 6 pounds month 2, and it's fluctuated the same 5 pounds this last month. I want to give up but I just keep hoping my body will adjust and decide to start letting go. My dr did recently up my thyroid dose so I'm hoping that will help too. It can be so discouraging.

JosieJ- We are in similar situations. It is depressing not seeing the scale move much. I'm 2.5 months out and lost 12 pre surgery and 23 since surgery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
