Cant keep anything down

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had my gastric sleeve august 4 and i was told i could enter phase 2 pureed. So far i cant keep anything in my system. If i have broth my bowel is liquid and unexpected and frequent. If i have anything thicker I'll puke it up. The pain of anything thick going down hurts so much im stunned. Ive been super weak and missed days of work because i cant get out of bed. Is anyone or have anyone experienced this?

Call your surgeon. Be sure to get in Clear liquids and drink something with electrolytes while waiting to hear from surgeon.

Did you try taking smaller swallows? Then pause for a minute or so and take another small amount. I use a baby spoon because it's easy to put a big amount in then it hurts like hell going down if you don't catch yourself. I would def call the Dr. .... Hope it gets better.

Tami, im going to try that. Ive been told by my bf that he thinks im eating and chewing as i did before the surgery and to slow down. I agree the pain of feeling anything go down even after a bite just leaves me stunned. I have to catch myself better. I will still call the doc though. Thank you for your help

You Definitely have to take small bites and small sips. Some Nuts suggest using baby/toddler utensils to keep bites small. Also get the Baritastic App. It has food timers so you can pace yourself.

Hoping you feel better.

Call the Dr. But also use a heating pad or hot wet towel and lay it on your chest it opens you up a bit so the food can go down when it feels stuck.

Cont on liquids. And start warm li guides in the morning. I had to do like 20 to 30cc every 10 min. Made a big difference. If your still throw up its because to much at a time. Pace it out more and drink less. Stay on liquids until your done throw up

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
