Juice plus Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

Not standard juice, at least not on my plan. Regular juice is basically liquid sugar. "Diet" juice would have been okay, like Ocean Spray Diet Cran-Cherry (5 calories per cup). However, I am trying to imagine that with Protein Powder added and I think it would have been awful, disgusting, at least with unflavored Protein powder. It might work better using one of the Syntrax Nectar fruit flavored protein powders, like diet cranberry lemonade with the Roadside Lemonade flavor from Syntrax nectar.< /p>

My coworker used to make her Matrix Orange Cream Protein shake with a combination of orange juice and Water or OJ and milk. She had the band done 7 years ago.

I never drink real fruit juice since it is pretty much straight sugar and I just can't deal with that many carbs.

I don't think my program would have allowed me to use real fruit juice for my Protein shakes or just to drink. How my co-worker did it probably would have been okay since she wasn't using 8 oz of OJ instead of 8 oz of milk. She was using more like 3 oz of OJ and the rest milk or Water.< /p>

Depends on what kind of juice you're talking about. If it's fruit juice, then no...extracting the sugar in fruit from the Fiber is never a good idea. If you're talking fresh vegetable juice (leafy greens, broccoli, celery, etc) then it's going to be low in sugar and packed with vitamins/nutrients, but you should check with your doc first. I juiced pre-op, and immediately post-op, with only vegetables and some lemon or 1/2 green apple to cut the taste of the greens. You could add Protein to that.

If you're talking about the "Juice+" product, I've never used it personally, but what I saw of the product, it was pretty high in sugar per serving for a "protein shake" choice that you'll be using 2-3 times per day. (the one I saw had 11g of sugar per serving).

I would not have been allowed that as the carbs are too high and the Protein too low for my plan's requirements.

For me, I was always a Water drinker! Since sleeve surgery March, 2016, having to drink room temperature Water and the major tastebuds change, I cannot drink strait water! I am down close to 100 lbs! I put a very small amount of V8 into water to change the taste! As far as Protein drink, I have grown to like GNC lean shakes but now I add frozen fruit to it! Very little fruit! Never blend ice because of too thick to get it down! Small sips! Highly suggest frozen fruit (small amount) added to Protein drink!

GNC Lean shake 25 in orange cream tastes pretty good (it's one of my favorites) and O just make it with water.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
