No longer stalled. But eating food is VERY challenging.

First of all, YAY for no longer being stalled! :)

But, eating soft food is extremely challenging. I ate ramen noodles last night, and I tried extremely hard to eat slowly and in small bites. After just 5 bites, I no longer wanted it. It also felt as if my food got stuck in my sternum and I could barely swallow my own spit. I was drooling profusely over the sink. Today, I tried eating noodles again. Same thing happened. I actually had to try and make myself throw up because the pain was so bad. I only ate about 2 ounces of noodles and that alone was challenging. I would only take half-teaspoon bites, so I know I'm not taking large bites. I had a hiatal hernia (the size of a golf ball) repaired during surgery. I never had problems with it before. But now, I feel as if I actually have one.

Has anyone experienced this? Should I go get an endoscopy?

Thanks Hun! That's a challenge for me at the moment because I'm so used to being a gulper, lol! But I am doing better. Thanks so much! :)

@@Hiraeth,

Congratulations on getting over your stall!

I, too, am surprised that you are eating noodles this early. The only way I would expect you to eat them would be pureed and watered down, and even then I would be surprised. What you describe sounds like classic food intolerance that comes with eating foods too early. Symptoms would be fullness that comes way too soon and way too harshly, and pain like you ate way too much even though you didn’t. Plus, since you said you had trouble eating the noodles slowly, that would definitely make those symptoms way worse.

How are you doing with other foods and Protein shakes? Has anything changed; that is, is there anything that you can’t tolerate now that you used to be able to tolerate? Of course you should definitely contact your doctor whenever you’re worried, but from what you described, it doesn’t sound too worrying if there are no other red flags.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how you feel and what the doctor says if you reach out!

Thank you for your response, Alex! I am almost certain that the noodles were just a bad idea because of an intolerance for them. When I drink Protein Shakes and other things, I sometimes feel a little nauseous; but I think that maybe I'm getting ahead of myself and drinking too fast. It's challenging, but I am quickly learning about what I can and can't do. I've noticed that Powerade Zero is not like it used to be. When it first hits my tongue, it tastes amazing. But once I swallow it, and let it hit my stomach, it's just not as pleasant as it used to be. It's hard to describe how it makes me feel, but mostly I think it's making me feel a little sick to my stomach. I bought a ton of them for me to drink after surgery, so I think I'm just going to stick with Protein shakes, Crystal Light, and Diet V8 Splash for my liquid. eggs are such a life saver right now! :D

@@hbrhonda Are we supposed to limit ozs in Protein drinks too?

Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

I was told not more than 4 oz of liquids every 1/2 hour. So you don't stretch out. I feel the 4 oz of Protein shake in my tummy so there is no way I could power through 11 oz anyways.
