Hi. I also have a September birthday AND am getting the sleeve on the 13th. I start my diet on September 3rd. I am also nervous and excited all at the same time. I found this app towards the end of July. I like FB better. But this is cool too. Best of luck!

Thanks marrse! When is your birthday? I'm guessing no cake for us???????? My surgeon requires at least 12days with Protein shakes, Jello , juices broth. Etc. to shrink liver. It's gonna be trying but have a good chance to lose a few lbs for head start!

I'm suppose to have a date for September but the lady that handles the insurance part just has my file sitting on her desk while she takes a vacation! Why couldn't she do it before hand it wasn't like she didn't have it for two weeks already! I want to cry, I know impatient but the suspense is killing me.

Someone else should be able to do it in the office, some Dr visits need to be redone if not within 30days of surgery. I found that once I persisted, stuff got done! Good Luck Wchild22!

@ I'm also scheduled for that day. Interestingly, my doctor has not prescribed a liquid diet at all but, in order to kind of clear out my head and prepare myself for the liquid stage post-op, I'm putting myself on a sorta liquid diet for a couple of weeks. Just to prove to myself that I can do it.

Good luck with surgery and congratulations.

Hi @ShrinkingKritta..I think it all depends on the surgeon and each individual. My BMI is at 37.9 right now, so although it's difficult to do liquid diet, it will shrink liver and prepare me for what's to come???????? Good luck to you too!

Hi everyone,

I received my insurance approval this past Monday and am scheduled for surgery on September 19th. I am so ready to just get it done. I've been doing the one shake a day and low carb diet since March. Freaking insurance required 6 NUT visits....grrrr. I have a pretty low BMI so it was hard not losing too much while not gaining anything either. But finally I'm all done. I have my consult with my surgical team on August 30th so I'll find out more details about the surgery and what to expect on that date. I'm not going to have to do the liquid pre-op diet either. I have to maintain my once daily shake and low carb meals until two days before surgery. Then I switch to Clear liquids for one day. Next, one day before surgery, I'm supposed to take a mild laxative and have Water only until midnight. After midnight nothing...eep! I can't wait!!!

I got some good news today, my surgery date has been moved up to September 9th, a Friday, I started my pre-op diet already just to ensure my liver will be ok. My issue has been giving up smoking, been very very hard but I'm doing it. Also it's hard at work when my co-workers order out. I'm so excited though!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
