Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Hi...I have scheduled my "consult" even though, I know what will be said. However, he is 5 weeks out, and then at least another month for surgery (I am paying out of pocket). Does this seem like a long time? I thought that they would be quicker if your a cash patient. I already have all my labs and everything from a previous doc. Wow! Maybe I am just anxious, still seems like a long time.

Could anyone give me their HONEST opinion on the team there? The secretary was very short, I just don't want to be let down.

Thanks

Brandy

In case you have not run across it, there is a thread called "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum." It has a lot of information about him and the staff. You might want to check it out. You'll see most people are quite happy with them. I had a great experience there all around. I think it is the best thing going, especially for self-payers. Good luck.

I had a phone consult with him on July 30th and my surgery date is Sept 18th. This is when I had my vacation time booked. I never tried to get in earlier. I am also a self pay patient.

I must say that I was very impressed with him. He did not hesitate to answer all of my questions and put my mind at ease.

I am just under 4 weeks to surgery and it is coming so quickly for me. It will happen before you know it.

Mark is right. Check out the thread "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum". You might want to post the same question on that thread. But I think he is getting busier as word gets around about the good Dr.

Best of luck to you.

brandymom1234, I am 9 days post op with Dr. K. I have absolutely no complaints. I do have to remember he is not my regular doctor he is just my lapband doctor. Unfortunately, as word gets out about Dr. K they are getting busy. Sorry the secretary was not friendly. I have only had great experiences. Everyone has busy days, and I know that some days I am more sensitive. Good luck with your decision. Join us on the other Dr. K site, over 100 pages of posts.

What do you mean by your statement " I have scheduled my "consult" even though, I know what will be said."

Do you mean that you are already informed or that you are concerned you do not qualify?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
