A place for bandsters in their 60's

I read a post that someone in their 60's wrote and

said there was nowhere to go where people are in

their age group. I thought maybe they would like to

have a thread where the 60 yr old (and/or older)

people could come and talk with people around the

same age.

Hey that's great Marilyn. That means you made it through the liquid stage! Just give me a call anytime.

There are a lot of foods you can have during the mushy stage. You don't have to worry about stretching your pouch at this time because you have no fill and the food will go right down to your stomach.

Either call me or send me a private message. Next week, Tues. Dr. Tersigini will be speaking at support group. There won't be a meeting the week of Thanksgiving.

Hi, Indio Girl and Denise....Yes, sorry, I do have a list of foods, but I wasn't sure how much I could eat. Your telling me that you eat 1-2 cups per meal is helpful. I am so afraid of gaining back the weight I've lost before my first fill (in 2-1/2 weeks). By the way, my doc had me on four weeks of liquid protein, which I've just finished up....so glad to be past that!! Thanks for the information...didn't mean to sound like I didn't know what to eat...I just didn't know how much and how that worked for you. Marilyn

I understand your fear of gaining it back and OMG 4 weeks liquid

I am proud of you - I don't know if I could have done that 10 days of each was hard enought - but you should be quite content with anywhere from 1 - 2 c max and it will really depend on what it is you are eating..

It seems like a lot of doc' don't give their patients alot of nutrional (sp) counselling - with mine I had homework - plan a meal and count protein grams - but this is a good thing not bad - it helps to be succefull...

My best to you - Janet

Where are all the bandsters in their 60's? I haven't seen any new posts on this thread lately.

I am struggling to lose more weight. I think it will be easier after the holidays.

Yeah, it's been really quiet here lately! Guess everyone is busy with the holidays... Thanksgiving week. I'm holding steady, but not really losing right now. Was able to do some water exercise this week and maybe that will help.

Happy Thanksgiving, All!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL !!!

I've been out on the 50s site for a few days. Learned some good info. just have to knuckle down and start the work to better food choices.

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving....I hope you all are too.

Carol

Hi everyone,

I just discovered this thread for 60ites and it's good to know there's a place to go to for my age group. I haven't been banded yet but I have my first appt with the Dr next week. This Forum has been so helpful in answering questions and even helping with things I never thought of. You are all such and inspiration and I will be checking back here frequently.

Hi FoxyGramma: Just wanted to let you know that we're all still out there. I've been busy and a little fed up (no pun intended) because my nurse practitioner who does the fills cancelled my monthly appointment (again) and it'll be another two weeks before I see her again, and I need another fill! After five months, I'm still not adjusted, still struggling with too little restriction. Whew! Glad I got that off my chest. Have a wonderful and good-food-choices Thanksgiving everyone.

Good luck to you, Kathy! We will be watching for your updates. This is a great place for support and encouragement.

Hey, I'm here, too; just been slackin; off.

I'm not doing well with this band. I guess I need to be on here more often, for support.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

4 oz champane 86 calories

Holiday Coffee Gingerbread Latte made with skim milk and no whip cream -200 c

Candie yams with brown sugar marshemallw or pecans 500 C vs Mash potatoes 240 - 300 depending on how made- (make with skim milk and just a tad of butter - increases the protien and cut the calories)

Gravey vs Cranberry Sause - choose gravey 80 c per 1/2 cup compared to 180 for the same serving of cranberry sause

Ham vs turkey vs prime rib

Turkey -skinless white 193 c per 5 oz dark 260 c

ham 5 oz 340 c

Prime rib 400

Pumkin vs apple vs pecan

Pumkin 270 c per slice (make with splenda and cut the calories)

Apple 370 c per slice

Pecan 700 per slice

:hungry:Dinner :hungry: - skip the drink i would rather eat :)

120 1/2 cup potatoes - 155 4 oz Turkey - 40 1/4 cup Gravy - 25 veggies - Stuffing 1/4 cup 60 c = 400 calories

1/2 slice of Pumpkin pie Pie 135

Ok gang just gave you Thanksgiving dinner for 535 calories

and those with restriction most likely couldn't eat all of that food

and if you made the food - like tatos and pie you could reduce the calories futher ...

See it can be done without breaking the bank !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Foxy Gramma and all you other "60ites",

I am here and just had my third adjustment today. I am losing weight slowly but surely. I have lost 35 lbs since I gained my new "band friend" in August. I have been able to eat just about everything as long as I eat slowly and wait a bit between bites. I hope this continues because it makes life easy and causes no problems for me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Trish

I just turned 57 - but would like to hang out here too! I'm due for surgery on 12-3 - and can't wait to get that over with. I'm on the 2 week protein pre op diet and am loosing weight there . . .and starting to feel better already! IO can't wait to see how I feel after 140 lbs go away forever.

Gosh, I thought I posted on here but read them all today and can't find my post. I'm 67, 4 weeks post surgery, no fill and no restriction. I'm eating about the same as before surgery except for breakfast I'm having slim fast instead of the bagel I used to have. I have lost a little weight every week so it must be the breakfast. I can hardly wait for my 1st fill.
