Thank you Janet, I appreciate your reply. I know you are right. I am getting back on the wagon. I just needed someone to remind me of what I am here for.

I did it I did it I did it.....well, this just makes my day!

I have been fooling around with the ticker factory for weeks it seems and finally thanks to you I am done with it!

I suppose I should have asked for help earlier but I am very stubborn....it doesn't pay to be stubborn....just another thing I'm working on as I go through this weight thing!

Well thankyou again! carol

Carol - you are welcome - I always try to figure things out myself 1st and don't always read instructions all the way thru - :)

Good Luck - it did work - You can do it !!!!

Phyllis

Phyllis - freinds don't let friends drive drunk - well our saying should be "Band Friends don't let Band Friends Eat" - it's alway different when a fat person who has the same struggles as you "tells you not to eat" than when a thin one does - I think it's cuz we understand each other better - The downfall from me in the past has always been allowing those 1st 10 back on then it's 15 - etc...

You can do this....

Thank you from me too!!! As soon as I have a band date I will follow your instructions. I had been to the site before and was confused. This site is just wonderful.

Donna - Welcome - read read read ask questions - this place is great for info... Good Luck on your Journey

Hi all! I am hoping to find Lonestar. I was doing a search on the surgeon I'm considering, and saw that she was banded by him. I was hoping to get her opinion and feedback. There was no pm option on her profile, and this thread seemed to be her "home", so I thought I'd see if I could find her here....:help:

So Lonestar, if you're out there? What did you think of Dr. Ganta?

I went out to dinner with some friends tonight. It was really embarrassing. There didn't seem to be anything on the menu that

I knew I could eat. I ended up ordering some Soup and the chunks of vegetables were really big and not very well cooked.

I ended up getting stuck and heading to the bathroom sliming. Luckily, I didn't throw up. I used the papaya tablets that I have read about on here. They got me unstuck, but I am sure everyone at the table thought I was strange. I just don't want to tell every single person I know about my band.

Has everyone else told all their friends?

Yes all mine know and so does my office (a gf told everyone) I really don't care though I would have told half of them anyway...

I have one gf (the one who told) who thinks i took the easy way out she doesn't say so but i know thats what she thinks - I have lost 39 lbs mostly from my own work as I don't have much restriction some but i still can eat - and if I chose not to eat healthy or exercise - i know that the weight i have lost would not be as great - I have choosen to eat healthy, log my food and exercise...

Has everyone else told all their friends?

I was just banded on the 9th, and for the last seven months I have been planning for this--

I told everyone in my office, my family, all my friends. And I have found the reactions very mixed, from very supportive to downright opposing me to the very worst, dead silence. Now, I'm more reluctant to tell everyone partially because of some of the reactions, but also because I feel guilty, like people think I've chosen "the easy way out".

Last spring I was very self-righteous when I found out a friend's daughter (bypass) wasn't telling anyone and I said "I don't care--I'll always tell everyone!" Needless to say, I have since reversed my decision, sad to say.

I have my surgery tomorrow....am scared and excited at the same time. I have told just a few people, because I, too, have found that some people are judgmental...taking the easy way out and putting foreign into your body. However, I had a friend tell me something yesterday that made sense. She said that people are getting knees and hips replaced, they are getting pacemakers and defribilators put in, stints, etc., so why not do something that would help not having to get those things in the first place. Hi Laura.

Here I am. Was banded by Dr Ganta on 23 jul 07 in Seton Hospital. I can honestly say, that I had the best care. Dr Ganta is a soft spoken, friendly, serious and informative person. His office assistant "Joy" runs the office like clock work and is also very friendly. At Seton Hospital I got all my pre ops with the help of Linda Martin, who is the coordinator and she so far has called me three times at home to see how I was doing. I really feel very comfortable with Dr Ganta. The 2 fills were painless, but I do not have a restriction yet. I also did not have to do the liquid diet pre op, but just a diet with less food. I could have gone to Scott and White hospital, which much closer to me, but after I went to Dr Ganta's seminar, I felt connected. Just sit a little up front, because his speaks kind of soft. If you want to know more about him, you can email me at melati2000@yahoo.com. Hope this information will help you a little. Take care. Yvette.

Wow! that's a really good point, Marilyn! I've told everyone! And the ones I didn't tell, my DH did! My friends and family have been extremely supportive and I haven't detected any negative feelings at all, so I guess I'm quite fortunate!

Lonestar, thanks so much!! My instinct was/is to go with Dr. Ganta, but I was hoping to get reassurance from someone who'd already been a patient. I'm glad to hear that your experience is continuing to be good.

(I may take advantage of your email to ask a question or two, so thanks for that as well!)

Gracias, from down the road in South Austin.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
