Hey guys I'm Courtney I'm 22 years old and I've been big my whole life. I have tried losing weight so many times and different ways. So I have been doing my homework about the bypass and the sleeve and I think I'm gonna go with the sleeve but I still have to go to the seminar which is July 21 it's for middlesex hospital in Connecticut! Then after that I'll make an appointment to see the surgeon for the first time ever. I'm really nervous for all of this. Could anyone give me some insight on what to except? Or what I have coming to me in the next couple of months like pre op testing? And pre op diets I heard that it's a 6month wait before even getting a approved because I have to lose weight before? Anyone info would help thank you all

many things depend on your insurance and your surgeon's requrements. For me I had a whole bunch of testing...bloodwork, ekg, sleep study, nutritionist, psychologis, and a couple others.

I echo what @@Sophie74656 said - it's going to depend on your insurance. I got super lucky and had very few requirements.

I'll tell you what helped me the most - YouTube! There are so many folks who have gone through this journey and have documented their experiences on YouTube. Go search for weight loss surgery or gastric sleeve and you'll find tons of information. I also searched for blogs to read, and of course, joined this forum. Information is your friend, and it will help you understand what to expect and keep some of those nerves at bay.

Same test for me, but I did not have a 6 month wait.(self pay) I also was not required to lose weight... but if I gain any he will not do the surgery.
