I feel like I am am always eating to much.....not enough.....I am about 7 weeks out and feel I should of lost more....while my body is changing it just seems I made a radical choice to lose weight only to not lose weight! I see people on here that have had surgery around the time I have and they have lost 50 or more....I lost like 23....and that is including the 16 I lost on pre op diet.....I feel everything I do is wrong.....

I am having the same issue as you. Except I have been stuck for several weeks now. Can't get out & walk like I used to now in a wheelchair. I guess as the other person said any loss is a loss but I am like you I want it to go now. Just hang in there, it will go. Plus my surgery was almost a year ago. I was going good but...stuck. Hoping it will pass, SOON.

Meaning I either feel like I am not eating enough and my body goes into starvation mode and hoards everything or I eat to much and that is why I am not losing....

@@Myka99 What is a typical day look like? Are you getting enough Protein?

I find I can eat a good amount of food for what some people can eat.....I eat a lot of Quiona, chicken breast, eggs and cheese.....I average at least 5 glasses of Water a day (which I am working on) I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible...I have had whole grain bread once or twice but no rice, potatoes or pasta....I stick to veggies and chicken.....I am counting calories and protein and I average from 600 to 850 cal a day and min 60 carbs......I eat enough I don't need to drink the Protein Shakes unless I don't have time to eat then I substitute....my surgeon is moving provinces and rescheduled my 6 week check up twice....so now I will never see him again....if I am doing something wrong I need to know....and I don't have a team to contact so that is not a response.....

@@Myka99 This is what my program says... 5-6 small meals / day (3 hours in between) focusing on Protein (first) and produce. We are not "allowed" bread, Pasta or rice. We are allowed potatoes though. The Water is key as well! And of course we should be exercising (that will be my biggest obstacle).

I haven't had my official post-op diet meeting yet but I believe the portion size is 2-4 ozs per meal. I would have more carbs from fruits and veggies instead of the quinoa (that seems as though it would be a slider food).

Just remember - you have lost 23 lbs and that is excellent! Keep the faith!!! :-)

Wouldn't Quiona be better than potatoes? It is higher in Protein?

@@Myka99 Potatoes would be more filling (so you would eat less). Quinoa would tend to go through your sleeve quickly and you could potentially eat more without being satisfied. I'm just guessing though - I don't know for sure. I will actually ask next week at my post op diet meeting.

Well what does it say in the guidelines you were given? What was the amount they told you to eat

Is there a bariatric surgeon taking your surgeon's position? Maybe you can contact the hospital where you had your surgery and ask for contact information for the new surgeon's office.

Or, call your insurance company and ask for the contact information to the closest bariatric surgeon covered by your plan.

Is .your Nut/Diet. available? Give him/her a call. He/her should be able to help answer your questions.

You're just a wee bit off track and need some information to get aboard again.

I think you will be just fine, once you get some answers.

It may just be that you are not getting enough calories. Go figure, right?

Try and get some consultations set up.

Prayers going up. :)

Hey @@Myka99 Quinoa is not only allowed but recommended on my plan - at least for weeks 2-6. Learned something new today! ????

Quinoa is much better than potatoes. It's full of Protein and fills you up. One of my favorite "sides" is quinoa with roasted veggies! You said you keep your carbs under 60g but you didn't mention Protein. How many protein grams are you eating?

I was told to get between 60g and 80g of carbs a day....and I can do that with food no problem and if I don't I have a shake.....

THE scale MOVED.....down 9 lbs.....thank God

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
