My surgery date is July 12 and I was given a liquid diet for my 2 week pre-op. It consists nothing but Protein shakes and Water. I could add very little fruit but only if I was still very hungry! What diet were you guys given?

I am so curious about what people are "eating" during the liquid diet phase. My dr didn't tell me that I had to do it - I was told to have liquids for two days prior to surgery but I want to do the two weeks just to prep my body for the surgery (shrink my liver - get used to not eating . . .). What have you all been told to do?? Only Protein Shakes? Soups? Some vegetables? Can you mix fruit into your shakes? I have read/heard so many different things.

I am allowed protein shakes 3-5 a day in addition to picking 2 items from a 6 item list consisting of light yogurt, 1 cup raw veggies, sugar free Jello, pudding, cream of wheat or oatmeal.

My preop liquid diet is 5 days long and I'll start on 7/2. I'm allowed low carb Protein shakes, broth, Jello, unsweetened iced teas and coffees, low carb fruit juices, vegetable juice and blenderized Soups.

However, I really want to lose as much weight as I can (or at least not gain anymore) so I'm attempting to do a low/no carb, high protein diet before my official preop diet starts. A pre preop diet if you wish. I'm on day 4 of that and am just struggling to keep the calories down, as always!

Also- my surgeon wants me to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate the morning of the day before my surgery. However, I'm flying that day and really do not want to deal with diarrhea on the plane so I've got to address that with him when we meet again next week. Anyone else have to drink that?

@@LuluLily my date is the same but I was wondering would I do the complete two weeks being that I was already loosing weight and I'm not that much over nor is my bmi

I'm set for July 5th. I start my liquid only diet on Tuesday. I'm only nervous about post surgery pain.

Hey they said take a shower night before a shower the day of and wash your hair☹️ I have a lot of hair it's so thick and I can't braid plus I don't get perms I have natural pretty hair but it's so thick that I have to keep it done. I just don't want to wash it day of I was going to get it fixed in like some updo I can't do hair and I'm sure I'll be in too much pain to attempt to do anything with it. I have a lot of hair I must stress. Lol

Double check with your surgeon to make sure you HAVE to wash it. I feel you on this topic. I was going to put my hair in boxer braids so I didn't have to bother with it post op (and so it would still look cute LOL) my pre-op instructions don't say anything about washing my hair.
