I am 4 weeks post op today & am doing fine. My incisions are healed and I've had no issues whatsoever. I've been back to work for 2 weeks and tomorrow we had a call off and I want to work the shift but it will include putting away boxes of product. I don't think anything weighs over 40-50 pounds but I forgot when my surgeon said go for it.

You should have gotten written discharge instructions before you left the hospital and it should be on there....or you could just give the office a quick call and ask. Mine says nothing more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks.

I was given the same 'no lifting more than 10 pounds' instruction. Since I live alone and have a 15 pound dog i was concerned what I would do in the event of an emergency. He doesn't need to be picked up on a regular basis.

So at the 2 week follow up appointment I asked the surgeon if I could pick up my 15 pound dog in the event of an emergency or if he wanted me to call a neighbor for help. He said that it was ok to pick up dog if it was an emergency only, meaning it should be highly avoided.

If I were you I would speak to my surgeon's office before picking up 40-50 pounds. You wouldn't want to pop a hernia. Hernia repair is painful.

Last thing you want is for one of those surgical wounds to become the site of a hernia.

Trust me on this.

I've been there and have the t-shirt that says so.........

Allow yourself to heal properly.

And then punish yourself through a carefully developed gym plan. :D

Nothing over 15 lbs for 6 weeks is what I was told.

I had very generous lifting restrictions....nothing over 20 pounds for 3 weeks. I was back to my usual daily lifting of 40-60 pounds exactly on day 21 with no problems. Was lifting 80 pounds around two months out.

But everyone is different, so check with your surgeon to be sure.

Can you switch jobs with someone? That seems like quite a bit after just one month. Your job should find out if you are released and how much you can lift.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
