May 16th surgery buddies?.....Let's do this together!

  • Popular Post

My surgery is scheduled for the 16th of May. Anyone with a surgery date close to that want to go though this together and support each other? I'm located in Florida.

4 days post op and 8lbs down!!

I feel so strange. I have not weighed in since my required preop diet.... I think I will wait until the first of the month

So, 7 days post op, struggling to get anything in. Lucky to get 4 ounces of fluids. Protein? So heavy feeling in my stomach and feel full after one or two sips, with pain. I have an alarm going off every 15 minutes to remind me to sip a drink, but I dread it thinking of the gas and pain I get. Nice part, absolutely no desire to eat, even when I smell delicious foods. Anyone else having difficulty getting liquids in?

You need to find a way to get fluids in or you'll get dehydrated quickly. Try different temps to see if one is better. sugar free popsicles, SF Jello, broth, flavored Water, tea...

1 week post op and I guess I feel ok, the only significant pain I have is the incision just to the right of center that my stomach remnant was pulled out of, it's pretty sore. I've been eating and drinking pretty casually, not measuring, and I think I've been consuming too much honestly. Not to the point of extreme pain/nausea, it just seems like I'm eating/drinking a lot. I mean, over the course of a day I can put down like 2 cups of soup, 22 oz of Protein shake, and 16-24 oz of other fluids including Water. Does that seem like too much for only a week out? My first followup is Wednesday and I'm looking forward to being moved onto purees. I'm still trying to interpret everything my chatty lil sleeve has to say, every gurgle and growl, what means "hungry" and what means "full," I do get a pain smack in the center of my chest that kinda radiates up under my ribs, feels like gas but it goes away fast. I don't know that I've actually lost weight since surgery, guess I'll find out Weds.

I am able to drink a lot and hold fluids like I am easily getting 70 oz. I understand thinking you are eating/ drinking too much. I have not weighed because of that fear and thinking of the suffering day after surgery just not being worth it. I have still just been eating broth no soup.

I am with you on the incision right at the belly button... That is the one that still hurts and be magnified by a sinus drainage cough.

Day 9 and I'm still having ups and downs. Most days I can take in all of my fluids and Protein but am still plagued by bouts of what I suppose is heartburn. I can't figure out what the triggers are, certainly not eating too quickly, but when it hits it can take some hours to get back to normal. It's very debilitating when it happens. Otherwise, I'm healing well and am pain free. I can't ask for much more. I see my surgeon and dietician next week so I hope I can get some answers to help with my digestion issues. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm doing very well! I really don't have any pain to speak of....maybe just a little muscle soreness getting up and down but nothing bad..... I wouldn't want to get punched in my belly...lol but all in all I'd say no pain. I'm able to drink all my liquid without problems....the Protein is another issue. I hate the Protein shakes so I'm looking forward to being able to get my protein from natural food.

Today makes week 1 down! 13lbs down, purée foods will start tomorrow for two weeks and I'm so happy about it! Tough week, but I made it through

@nursebeauty23. Awesome. Your lucky. I can't start purée foods for another week. I had to do two of liquids after surgery then two weeks of purée and soft foods.

Today is day 7 after surgery for me I am so excited to get to have a little solid food. I have been obsessed over sugar free Popsicles the last few day just to have something to chew. This morning plan 1 oz of cottage cheese and 1 oz of banana

Im having trouble with my incision spot . the doc says it looks good, but having major burning sensation every time I stand up or move around, as and I'm wearing the girdle they gave me. So tired of sitting around.

My reflux is bad to I've narrowed it down to the pain meds.

I think one time it was a statin I'd taken that set me off.

I'm devastated, I received a letter from my surgeon yesterday to say that pathogy on my removed stomach had revealed I had Helicobacter and am now on strong antibiotics to try and eradicate it. My poor tiny tummy is to be assaulted once more. Having researched this condition I see that it is very common and in the US it seems most people are tested for it before surgery. It certainly didn't come up here in Australia and if I'd known it was a possibility I would have asked about it before hand. Something to discuss with my surgeon when I see him next week. Hubby has gone to the Chemist to get me a decent probiotic which I hope will help restore some of my stomach flora. On a positive note, I'm wearing a pair of capris today that I bought at least 6 years ago and have never worn because I couldn't do them up - result!
