May 11th surgery. I do and I don't want to...

I'm new here as of tonight. My husband is asleep, clueless. I will be starting my 2 week pre-diet this Wednesday and am being so bad with everything. Coffee! Can I live without it? Can I afford to be that petty? No, but I want and need to whine a bit

I knew coffee was going to be my biggest struggle as well. I have always enjoyed 3 to 4 cups of Joe in the AM. I actually started weaning myself off the caffeine about 3 weeks ago. I am now down to 1 cup a day of half caffinated coffee. My surgery is May 3rd.

I hope you have been decaffeinating yourself gradually. If you haven't, whatever you do, don't eliminate caffeine overnight or you'll end up with a beast of a headache for several days.

But you may find that some of the things you think you can't live without are very live-without-able postop. for exmple, I loved my coffee (decaf, but I loved the taste and aroma) and my wine.

At 6-1/2 weeks out, I had my first cup of coffee (decaf) yesterday, and another today. I don't love it the way I once did. I had about a tablespoon of wine at a dinner on Friday - meh. It's a little disorienting that these things no longer appeal to me!

I predict you will do better than you think at the preop prep. It's a mind game.

Good Luck to you all.

Mike, do you have to do a two week diet beforehand?

All good things require some sacrifice. I will miss beer and Diet Coke. I am a decaf coffee drinker. I gave up beer last month and had my last Diet Coke on April 30. I'll have a month to adjust to being soda free before my 6/1 surgery. The beer was no big deal as obviously that was not an everyday event. The weaning down and now being done with my beloved Diet Coke with lime has been harder.

My surgery was moved to 6/1. I start my diet on Wednesday and have been trying to take it easy on the coffee. Luckily I'm not a soda drinker. Another thing I'm worried about is that I drink Water and lots of it with my meals. They say you can't do that either. I'll live but I'm going to whine a whole lot!

Melissakate and Loser140, how are you feeling?

Today is my last day before I start my pre diet and I'm feeling

Very afraid and cranky. Alcohol and food have always been my run-to's when I'm stressed. Reality is settling in
