I had mine on April 5, so I'm 16 days out. I've been trying to transition to soft food but I'm still almost entirely Protein drinks, yogurt and cottage cheese. I tried scrambled eats and they ruined me for the day. I ate way too fast and too much. I was rushing out the door with the kids and had to turn around...it was horrible. But I did learn an important lesson about eating too fast and too much. I've eating a few pieces of stir fried chicken. Last night I had one little piece of stir fried beef. I've also had a few deli sliced of roasted chicken.< /p>

I still have a bottleneck feeling going on when I eat and drink. But I feel great. No hunger problems and no cravings.

How are you doing with food?

I was sleeved on April 6. I'm on puréed foods for the last 3 days. I'm having a hard time getting in my Protein shakes- since surgery they are just off putting. The puréed foods are hit & miss, I've tried chicken & tuna salads (blended up real good) and they seemed too rich and I did not feel well after. Cottage cheese and yogurts are working out well.

Well I have did try the egg.and forget it, it made me miserable I threw it all up, I've also tried shredded chicken and that's OK but a littke to dry, yogurts don't taste the same as before the only thing I do like is cottage cheese and I've been making myself fresh fruit smoothies with like papaya pineapple pears strawberries and blueberries and almond milk unsweetened and lots of Water Ive tries different Protein shakes and they do no go down they get stuck what I also eat smoothly is the maruchan noodles with my own seasoning and I add squash potatoes and carrots that's about it I can't eat anything else. I'm really stuck with these new foods to me I know I'm not taking in the correct Protein cause I can only have a little at a time but I also still have a lot of lower abdomen pain and lots of back back. I am 18 days post op.

I was sleeved April 4th & today is the first day I could have soft food. This morning tried 2 bites of cottage cheese & one bite of yogurt. Stomach made a lot of noises - but feel ok. First 2 weeks was Clear Liquids, 3rd week was liquids that run easily thru a strainer. I made homemade black bean Soup & put it thru the blender. Hands down best thing I've tried besides Campbell's Soup on the go (not allowed Tomato soup).

Also, tried a frozen Greek yogurt bar last night & had no problems.

Planning on trying a few bites of egg for lunch.

Premier Protein chocolate shakes are the only ones I'm interested in now. Liked the strawberry & vanilla first 2 weeks, but now I'm sick of them. All other Protein Shakes just turn me off now. shakes I used to drink regularly before surgery now are hard to get down. I do drink a whey "Nectar" drink in tropical flavor with my powdered bariatric Vitamins in it & it's ok for 24g of Protein. I add spoonful of Isopure non- flavored protein to my soup & coffee (mix it w/bit Water first).

G2 & Powerade zero taste delicious to me right now. So I drink quite a few ice cold drinks & my Fluid intake is very good. MyraLax is a must for me every day too.

Painful spot next to my belly button that burns with a sharp pain! Drives me nuts cause I'm wanting to physically do so many things. Doc's office said its where they put extra stitch to prevent hernias.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
