Hair Loss Blues

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 1/5/16 (roughly 4 months out.) The hair loss phase got serious this week. I am losing it by the handful each day right now. I knew it would happen; I take my Vitamins and Biotin, but it is still hard to see the seriously thinning sections at the crown. I have been through this before with both my post-baby experiences and with a previous surgical experience. I know it sucks and I know it will eventually grow back. Today is just a tough day with the hair...

Any thoughts?

This was a rough phase for me as well, especially since I have rather fine hair! My Hair loss started around 4 months post op too! I'd say it continued for a couple months, then eventually it came back in. I'm 1yr 9mo post op, and my hair is just as nice as it was before surgery, and has been for quite a while. You're doing it all right. Keep up with the Vitamins and make sure you're getting all of your Protein in, and hopefully you'll notice the hair is starting to grow back in soon! [emoji1]

Oh me too! My hair started coming out around 4 months- I'm 6 months now and it's just starting to slow down... I have very fine hair so it's been quite traumatic for me. I took all my Vitamins and get my Protein religiously.

I hope that it's not too bad for you! I wouldn't change my sleeve surgery for the world however.

I had the same problem and it hit at about 4 months post-op and I'm now 9 months post-op and it's slowing down but I did recently have another major surgery. I too have super thin/fine hair but Nutri-ox Shampoo and conditioner works awesome! Sally's beauty supply sells it and will really help with the thinning process. Between the Biotin and nutri-ox you should see some improvement and will lessen quite a bit.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
