Recommended Posts

Hi guys I'm going to be honest with you, I am not trying to scare anyone but I actually got on here to post about this to see if anyone can help me..So I am 3 years 3 months out and have gained in the last 7 months 28lbs I know I know scary as hell!! I went to my surgeon because things are just not adding up with how I am gaining weight my calorie intake is still 800-1200 everyday but I kept gaining they are trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I am so sad for the last 2 months I am so good watching my intake, Protein, Water I have not missed a day of the 30 day shred with Jillian micheals amor do the treadmill ...yet stuck at 160lbs my lowest and goal was 140lbs (used to be 260lbs) so now I have 20lbs to lose to get back to my goal. I used to lose so fast and easy but not anymore this is just crazy and an extremely emotional roller coaster ????

Hi Smallbird...I feel your pain.I have come to the forum today because I too have gained 13 pounds in the last 6 or so months and don't know what to do with myself.

I'm hoping for some advice too.

I'm glad you have made the first step of going back to your surgeon.I can't get an appointment for mine till April which I'm not impressed about.

Sounds like there could be more to your weight gain as you are following all the rules and exercising without any luck.

I hope you get some more replies...hopefully someone can help you overcome this stumble..

Good luck :-)

Maybe you've gained muscle mass which could show as weight gain, but is totally different from gains due to fat. It sounds like you are on the right path to getting things figured out by contacting your nutritionist. But I wouldn't be surprised if your BMI has changes due to mucles mass increase, which makes weight loss seem slower than normal.

I agree that if you are doing more working out you could be adding muscle, but I doubt 28 pounds of muscle. That is puzzling if you are are sticking to the numbers, high Protein, low carb & lots of Water. I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling. I too can gain a few pounds back if I'm not careful, but I've found that if I stick very strictly to the bariatric diet, it comes right back off. I hope you get it figured out!

Are you using a prescription sleep medicine -- and possibly sleep-eating?

I wouldn't ask this (and would assume you're just eating more than you used to / more than your body maintains at). But if you're truly logging all your food, then I wondered about the sleep-eating possibility.

And if you're not logging all your food, I'd suggest you measure and log every morsel to confirm for yourself what and how much you're eating.

Also -- I've found that all calories aren't "the same." Sugar calories affect my weight a lot more than Protein calories do, for instance.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
