I am scheduled for March 22nd. However, I have not gotten my final approval from insurance yet, so hopefully that will come soon. I'm getting really antsy here wanting to know if I have been approved!!!

@@workingmom163 - Congrats! Best of luck to you!

I just found out my surgery was officially approved! We get the surgery date after completing all of the necessary appointments and the MD/PSYCH signs off, but I was still in approval limbo.

NOW it feels real. I'm going to be a wreck until 3/16.

@@HappilyEverAfter44 - not necessarily. I just found out today from the nurse what my prep consists of. Two days before surgery I have to do only liquids/protein shakes/soups. One day before I have to do only Clear Liquids and magnesium citrate. And that's it. I was shocked, seeing so many people on 2 week liquid diets.

Hey guys! ????

I am having my surgery on March 11th and I can't wait! I'm already on a 10 day Post Op liquid diet and let me tell you guys... It is the hardest thing so far for me. I'm constantly hungry, also nauseous. I've been to the point were I have thrown up nothing but liquids and even heaved. It is very painful for me because it feels like my stomach is in a big knot. I am supposed to be drinking 4 Protein shakes a day, two cups of veggies and Water in between. That's it!

I called my surgeon and explained that I've been feeling sick and also weak due to this so he told me to supplement one of the shakes for a bottle of Water with low fat, sugar-free Crystal Light ????. It's not helping at all! Are any of you guys going through this or similar? Please any advice will help!

P.S: Please no negative judgement. Thank you!

Post Op Buddies!

I have a question please!

Is it true that the tube they put for drainage from your pouch to the outside of your tummy is EXTREMELY painful when it's removed? If so, did they give any pain meds or helped you guys out in any way with this?

Thank You!

@@cendella170 your lucky girl! My surgeon told me he will place one. My friend that had her surgery with my doctor told me how painful the removal was. I'm scared about that! Lol

I had the JP drain and I didn't hurt coming out more like uncomfortable/weird feeling of something coming out of your abdomen. Hope that helps!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
