Has anyone had issues with not being able to sleep since you had sleeve surgery? I am a year out and having major sleep issues. Have not slept through the night since my surgery.

I have been that way since surgery in October. It stinks. The bags under my eyes are scary. Surgeon doesn't know why. I would be so happy to sleep over 4-5 hours

So true. Pretty bad when I go into work and the first thing I hear "Geez, you look awfully tired". THANKS like I don't know that. I feel great otherwise but to get rid of this raccoon look and a good night sleep would be fantastic

I tried melatonin - puts me to sleep fine but does not help staying asleep ????????

I have had trouble sleeping for years. My doctor says it has to do with hormone.

I'm sleeping better than I have in 20 years. More exercise, not eating late at night = sleeping longer, deeper.

EDIT 24 HOURS LATER:

Just remembered this bit: My surgical team urged me pre-op to reduce / cut out caffeine so I wouldn't suffer post-op from recovery issues AND caffeine withdrawal. (The idea there is that our poor little traumatized tummies don't need any extra acid immediately post-op.)

Anyway, 10 days post-op my surgeon said I could have a cup of coffee again. And today, 18 months later, I very, very seldom have more than 8 ounces of coffee in a 24-hour period. Obviously I don't drink any more carbonated colas, so no caffeine coming in that way. Therefore, I'll hypothesize that drinking less caffeine than I used to drink also contributes to my better sleep.

Oh how I want to fight for this result as well! =)

I have been having the same problem since surgery as well. I both have trouble getting to sleep and then wake up several times over the course of the night once I do. Crazy thing is, I'm still less tired than I was before surgery without the sleep problems.

Zzzquil and I are secret lovers! It's the best stuff ever! And it's "non habit forming" unless you make sleep a habit.

I don't get enough sleep and it tells on my back.

Last night, for instance......last huge glass of Water during the SB halftime....allowing plenty of time for it to pass through my system. In bed and asleep right around 11:00am. Up at 2:00am.....dozed restlessly until 3:30am and couldn't stand it anymore. Up and having coffee now.

Nervous about developing issues at work this week. Once this is resolved I'll probably sleep great next weekend and beyond.

My sleep is pretty crappy now too. I'm not sleeping until like 3am and getting less than 4 hours each night. Then I crash for an hour at lunch (during work) to be able to keep going.

It's terrible but I'm afraid of sleep medications.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
