Has anyone here had VSG surgery after they have previously had their gallbladders removed?

Hello all! I'm researching getting the VSG surgery but I don't have my gallbladder. I had it removed about 4 years ago. While watching some YouTube videos I noticed a few people that were having complications simply because they no longer had their gallbladders. If I remember correctly, it was something about bile getting into their sleeves I think. It was giving them complications and some were told their only option was to have a revision to Gastric Bypass. Just wondering if those were just isolated events or rare events even.

Has anyone who has had the VSG surgery after having their gallbladders removed either have/had complications as a result of that or haven't had any complications at all due to that?

Thanks so much!

Hi. I had my gallbladder out about 12 years ago. My surgeon said the sleeve was a better choice for me as there might be scar tissue if I wanted the bypass. I wanted the sleeve anyway so I was good to go. I have had no complications from it and was sleeved last August. Good luck!

I had my gallbladder taken out in 2013 and my surgery is in May so we'll see.

I had the opposite. Had my surgery almost a year ago, and just had my gallbladder out a month ago. Having far less complications with the thing gone than when it was in there! Im sure we can all relate.
