@chelmybel I'm so sorry to hear that. Did they give you an action plan of things you could to be approved or reassessed at a later date?

    Any March Sleevers

Hi! I would love to have support and be a support as well! Everything is complete except one very minor item. It should be complete this Thursday which makes it 1 week later than what my NP originally factored when coming up with March as my surgery month. I'm hoping it will still be March. Not sure if it will be possible given it has to be approved by my insurance, etc. Fingers crossed! ?
  3. Awesome! Dr. Lucktong is a great surgeon and came highly recommended! You and me are on the same track for getting our surgeries! Lauren is trying to get all of my things completed by March too! The only two things I have left are my Psych Eval and the one hour dietician appt which I'm having done in mid February so she is hoping to send to my insurance company then and hopefully will get approval and surgery some time in March! Any March Sleevers

Hi Everyone! My date is tentatively set for sometime in March! I'm in Virginia! I would love to be apart of a support group for people getting the sleeve in March! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Wow! 12 months is quite long. I have to have a 6 month medically supervised diet and I have 2 months left on that. My surgery is planned for January 2017. Long story but I have to wait that long due to some scheduling problems on my side. I haven't met Dr Lucktong yet. My appt with him is in October. I'm interested in finding out more info on Dr Salzberg. I'll have to do some digging lol.
  8. Hi! I'm having mine there as well; however, my Dr is Dr Lucktong. He's been the only one doing VSG in Roanoke for a while. I didn't realize they had another Dr there. Is he new? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hello all! I'm researching getting the VSG surgery but I don't have my gallbladder. I had it removed about 4 years ago. While watching some YouTube videos I noticed a few people that were having complications simply because they no longer had their gallbladders. If I remember correctly, it was something about bile getting into their sleeves I think. It was giving them complications and some were told their only option was to have a revision to Gastric Bypass. Just wondering if those were just isolated events or rare events even. Has anyone who has had the VSG surgery after having their gallbladders removed either have/had complications as a result of that or haven't had any complications at all due to that? Thanks so much! mallymaven

    Today is the day! :)

Congratulations @@Mrs_O! I'll be thinking of you. Hope to hear all about your experience when you feel up to posting it!
  12. @@frankenstein Thank you so much for your post. I have been having cold feet this week and worrying endlessly. It was so comforting to read all the wonderful supportive responses you received. I hope your surgery went well and that when you feel up to it you will come back on and tell us all how it went.
  13. I have been researching the sleeve surgery for over a year. I had made my decision to have the sleeve and then I started reading "deeper" research into the sleeve. The one thing that concerns me is that some in the medical community are stating there is not enough long term data on the sleeve and for what they do have, there are a large number that require a revision to a gastric bypass. Has anyone else heard or read this? I'm just afraid of having 85% of my stomach taken out and then years later requiring the gastric bypass which is what I don't want. Then, if there are complications after that, then what? I read where one woman had to have her entire stomach removed. Granted I'm sure that doesn't happen very often, but still...hmmmm. I just don't know. I thought I was all set, but now I guess I have more thinking to do. Just looking for thoughts from others. Thanks!

Help! How do I make this decision?

Sorry, for some reason it wouldn't let me post my comments/questions to my question so I'll write it here. What I know for sure is that I have battled my weight since I was 21 years old. It got even worse after I had my two sons. I've lost 80 pounds twice but gained it back both times. I know the sleeve surgery is not going to be a magic fix for me, but feel it could be a useful tool. My bmi is 43. I'm 39 years old. I've had 2 c-sections and had my gallbladder removed. My first worries were that my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery but I found out they will. Second, I was worried about pain after surgery, but now I have worries that I dont know if they are just normal fears before surgery or maybe I shouldn't have it done. I'm so confused. The stories I've read about people being really nauseated up to a month after surgery and not being able to keep food down. Then there's the fear of not waking up from the surgery or getting a leak. I haven't had my appt with my surgeon yet. Maybe I'll feel better after bringing some of these concerns up to him? I guess my rambling question is how did you know you were ready for the surgery? Lol! Thanks so much for any replies! :-)
