  1. So, I went shopping yesterday for the first time in a couple of months. And I am proud to say that NOTHING was "plus sized". It was my first non big girl store shopping trip in more time than I can remember. And on top of that, I was buying Large shirts and size 10 jeans. I never thought that I would feel this good so soon. I am so happy! As many others say, wish I had only done this sooner! If I feel this great at 5 months post op, I cant wait what the future holds!!
  2. I know for me a big (no pun intended) reason that I decided to have this surgery is so that I don't have to worry about the things that I was thinking about all the time. The every day things that I had to think and worry about: - Is my belly sticking out under my shirt? - What rides will I fit on at an amusement park? - Is everyone else comparing that I am the largest person in this room too? - How am I going to get down to put my shoes on and get back up? - Am I going to fit in the booth at the restaurant? These were just a few for me. What are some of your triumphant moments that you no longer have to think about?
  3. I had the opposite. Had my surgery almost a year ago, and just had my gallbladder out a month ago. Having far less complications with the thing gone than when it was in there! Im sure we can all relate.
  4. Its been a long time coming and a huge victory on my journey to reach one-derland and today it happened! I am 11 months out from surgery and down 123 lbs total. By far the best decision I ever made for myself! How has the surgery changed your life?

    Hit ONE-DERLAND TODAY!

@@Proud2BMe It means that you are officially in the 100's in weight. And since it is so wonderful to those who are in our journey, the term just means that much more!
  6. Stalls are the worst. I am coming out of a long one right now too. But, CONGRATS! Be proud of how far you have come and will still go!
  7. This is an amazing success story! I was at the same starting weight and down 120 lbs at 11 months out now. Had a bit of a stall, but I know that things will pick up again. How was your pregnancy with the surgery? I am wanting / hoping to get pregnant close to my one year mark, so wondering how your body did with tha. Thanks for sharing.

    Looking for support

Hi Betty, Sounds like you had a rough start with this journey. Sorry to hear about that. I would definitely recommend that you go see your dietician. They can lead you in the right directions of what to start out eating especially with your bowel trauma. I would recommend that you start by eating easy, soft foods: eggs, plain shredded chicken, smoothies etc. Introduce solid foods slowly. As far as the "bubble" feeling, it does lessen with time, but I still get bubbles when I eat certain foods or drink liquids but not as bad as when it was right after surgery. Good luck with everything!
  9. I LOVE reading all of this! I reached my 100 lb loss at about 7 months. I am down 115 total now at 9.5 months out. Good luck on your journey!

    Gall bladder?

I think that I am having the same issues. How did you all figure out that is what it was? I have an appointment with my primary care physician next week and assuming that he can write me a referral to go get it checked. Just wondering how you all got tested and confirmed that's what it was for you? The pain is the WORST thing I could imagine, so while I am not excited at the thought of another surgery, I definitely want to get rid of this pain!
  11. Isn't it such a crazy turn of events that now the scale is our friend? Makes me even laugh to think about it. I avoided scales like the plague for years and years and now I'm excited to get on it and see my progress. It has even made me cry... happy tears of course. Oh, how the times have changed!

    Exercising

I agree with the others. Start slow. Anything is more than not doing anything so let yourself be proud of that. Keep walking and then slowly add other intense exercising into the routine. During exercise, make sure to hydrate a lot and before a workout, I would eat something light like a protein bar or nuts. Something that will help fuel you but not weigh you down.
  13. Congrats! Doesn't it feel amazing! Just wait, they will continue. It is such a great motivator to keep going!

    Sizing down in clothes

As others said above, it could be a few different things. But, enjoy it! This will not be the last pair of jeans you buy on this journey. 7 months out, not one thing I had in my closet before surgery is still in there. Pants, tops, bras, underwear, shoes... they are all going to be replaced. Give it a week or two and those jeans that are a little tight will feel looser. My advice is when you are dropping sizes is to buy a little tight in the beginning. They will last you longer. Because trust me, it goes FAST! Good luck!

    GOAL!

    Congrats!!! So exciting!!
  16. Its been an amazing journey so far. My decision to have this surgery did not come lightly and I did lots of research and thinking before deciding it was a good fit for me. I have had many triumphs and victories throughout my 7 months since surgery, but reaching my 100 lb weight loss was the biggest (pun intended) for me! When I stepped on the scale and saw my 100# I cried. Happy tears of course. I am proud of my journey and cant wait to see what more this wonderful life changing surgery has for me in the future! I still have a ways to go, but excited to get there. The photo I attached is from my monthly photos that I take in the same spot in my house. The first photo was 1 week post op and the second picture is from today100# down! What has been your biggest victory since surgery?

    So I lost 100 lbs!

@@ssflbelle Thanks for all your encouragement! You will be on the path before you know it. I did not have to do any dieting before surgery, my insurance did not require it. All my weight loss has been post surgery. You definitely can do it too! Its so fun and is such a great journey! January or February will be here before you know it! Let me know how its going for you!

    So I lost 100 lbs!

Thanks everyone! It has been a very great moment for me! And @@2goldengirl I thought long and hard about that one (I like celebrating these moments), I went to MAC Cosmetics and bought everything I wanted!! I figured makeup always fits!

    Protein Problems

I would suggest mixing more water with it. I don't like my protein shakes with only 8 oz of water, doesn't taste good to me. I mix it in the large blender bottle (24 oz) I like it better that way and still gets in the protein and counts towards your water goal. Try that. Or try a different brand. I use ISO 100 and love it.
  20. I was told NO carbonation forever! And I am 7 months post op and haven't even had a sip. Trust me, its more fun to hit your goals and follow the plan than to sit and drink a soda!
  21. As others have mentioned above. Eggs are always good. You can order scrambled eggs and bacon. Good protein. Soup is always a good one too. I still do soups in restaurants and im 6 months out. Don't stress about it too much enjoy the night with your hubby!
  22. You don't need to be "punished". Recognizing that this is an issue is hard enough on yourself. I don't think its possible to stretch your stomach from 2 days of eating. But, you know that this isn't good. Listen to yourself. I think that we all struggle with holidays. What I would suggest is THROW IT AWAY! Get it all out of the house. Then, you wont have anything to have anything to feel bad about. Let yourself feel bad enough that you don't do it all the time, but also give yourself a little slack. We all mess up sometimes. Nothing you cant come back from. Today is a new day!
  23. You and I are in the exact same scenario! I am at 6 months post op and down 95 lbs. I was doing great, consistently losing 2 lbs a week and then it just stopped. I hadn't lost anything in 3 weeks. After trying more exercise, eating better etc. I saw nothing on the scale. I reached out to my NUT and she sent me a pamphlet that had "reasons you are having a stall" one of them was "not eating enough". I hadn't tracked my calories at all since surgery but everything had been going so great that I had not thought of it. Well, she told me I needed to be at 1000 calories a day and I downloaded My Fitness Pal and tracked away. I was immediately shocked to know I was getting much less every day than that. So, for the last 3 days, I make sure to increase my calories and after an entire month of losing nothing at all, I am down 2 lbs again! So, eat up my friend. Life is weird. This journey is confusing sometimes, but reaching out on here is great and reach out to your NUT. Track your calories, you may be in the same boat as me. Good luck!

Don't be nervous, today is your new beginning! Congrats and enjoy the ride!

    What's for dinner?

Ok I have a new one I made last night. I bought ground turkey and made my own meatballs with it but put a small piece of mozzarella cheese inside. Put a little bit of Italian seasoning on the outside and cooked them on the stove top. They were amazing!! It was only about 240 calories to eat 2 of them and gave me 17 grams of protein.
