  1. Congrats! Isnt it a great feeling to honestly feel "great"!
  2. On those hot summer days, I longed for being able to gulp, but it is just fine without it. I am 6 months post op and drink larger sips of water than after post surgery, but probably never again as I used to. But, it becomes the new normal.
  3. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could put a list in order and weight loss would go through our "wish list" of priorities! But, we take what we get. Its all good!
  4. Hi! I think that you are doing the right thing by coming on the forums. The people who have had this surgery for a while can probably help you a lot more than I can, however, I will try. I did a lot of research prior to my surgery and had questions as well. I would recommend doing research yourself too. As far as what my surgeon has told me (although I never had the thought of being afraid to be too skinny) is that your body will plateau at a certain point. It is up to you if you want to push that more or less. However, I cant imagine that it would ever get to the point of being sickly looking. As you will find in this forum, everyone believes strongly in this surgery. Make the decision for you, not anyone else and if they think that you can "do it on your own". Hope this helps. Good luck!
  5. I understand your pain! I have been in the same boat for the last few weeks. I have lost 95 lbs in 6 months since my surgery and it has always come off consistently, and then for the last few weeks, it has just stopped. I know its hard, but keep at it. Try and let yourself not think about it constantly (which I know is hard). As others said above, try giving yourself a break with the gym and cut out a couple of the carbs and see if that helps. I am trying the same things. Good luck!
  6. Try adding more water to your protein. Im not a fan of the thick protein shakes, so I mix my protein with 24 oz of water. Doesn't matter how much water you mix in as long as you are drinking it all. Also, try different brands of protein. Good luck!
  7. Congrats! So exciting for you! Keep it up!
  8. Congrats to you! What an amazing journey you have had so far. And working out for an hour a day every day?? Ok, you have inspired me to get off my ass and start working out more!!
  9. As others have said above, everyone heals differently. I took 5 days off work and then realized I needed a few more and took 3 additional days off. I work a desk job as well and was fine to go back after that. Just listen to your body. You will know when you are ready.
  10. I am 6 months out and still get the gurgles when I drink fluids. It gets less but im pretty sure we will all have them forever. Not a bad trade off though.
  11. Sorry things didn't work out as planned. Once you get home, you will feel much better. And then, you are on the track for your new life, which is very exciting. Stay positive and get better!
  12. I would definitely focus on your protein. But, as others have mentioned, it is all part of the process. I think that we have all experienced something like this. Mine breaks like crazy these days. But, it will get better. I would rather have less hair and less fat!
  13. Congrats on your new adventure! You have made such great progress already!
  14. WOW! What an accomplishment! That is amazing. I hope that you are as proud as everyone on this thread is for you! Such an inspiration to the rest of us!
  15. So great! Congrats to you! I cant wait for my One-derland! Im sure its such an amazing feeling to know that you can kiss the 200's goodbye forever!
  16. Like many others have mentioned, I am all about my crock pot these days. Its so easy and has so many options. One of my favorites is baking chicken in the crock pot. Once it is completely cooked, I shred it with a fork. Add a splash of olive oil, a little bit of garlic salt and mix it all together. Turns out great, has plenty of flavor, and is low fat.
  17. So true @@AngelaWilliamsMD I do think that the "honeymoon" phase is over, so now the true test of what I do with this is starting. I just needed to be reminded of that again. And, yes increasing my activity I think is exactly what I need to do! Thanks!
  18. Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl that post that you sent the link for is amazing! Like I said, I know that there are some things that I can kick up a notch, and definitely am proud of where I have come from. I liked that your post mentioned moaning over these things because you are SO RIGHT! I needed to focus more on that. So, thank you!
  19. So, I am 6 months post op and feeling great! I know what I have accomplished this far is amazing but for the last month, I have seen very little to no progress in my weight loss. I am still focusing on eating the right things, but I admit some have fallen to the wayside. I haven't been drinking my Protein shakes, but still focus on my protein intake with food. I work out maybe once or twice a week, but know that I can increase that as well. So, I guess I need a kick in the ass to get on it again. Is this common to slow down at the 6 month mark? I know everyone is different and I can get back on a better track. For the most part, I feel confident in the things that I am doing, but just need some good, honest advice to how I can get this going again!
  20. Congrats! Its things like that, that mean the most!
  21. I remember in the beginning it felt like work to just blow dry my hair. I knew at that point how crucial it was to get my protein in. Try increasing your protein. It will give you the natural energy that you need. And it will get easier as the weeks go on. You just had major surgery, so your body is in panic mode right now. Let it recover!
  22. You got this! You have the right attitude and that is about 90% of the battle. You just purchased early so that you can be even more excited! Congrats!
  23. I LOVE reading all of the things that you all are eating for breakfast. I have been so boring. I literally eat the same thing every day which is a mini protein pre-packaged thing I buy from the store of mini cheese cubes and non salted nuts and raisins. I am bored of it, but its so easy. I don't wake up with enough time to eat in the mornings, so I eat it after I get to work. I am going to try some of these options! Also, for protein bars during the day, I eat the "Pure Protein Bar" I like the blueberry kind. It has 20 grams of protein and only 190 calories.
