Some of my many memories of playing Red Rover was at summer camp.

On a particularly rainy/muddy day, we would have mandatory camp-wide games that included red rover, kick ball, etc. Anything to make sure we were particularly muddy.

Then, we wouldn't be allowed to go back to our cabins to clean up. Instead, we would have a "grub dance" with the boys camp.
