Approved! Washington State Apple Health (Molina Medicaid)

  • Popular Post

I was approved today to begin Stage 2 of Molina's bariatric program. I am a 5'5", 309 pound 35 year old female. My BMI is 50. I have one co-morbidity of high blood pressure, and a doctor who believes that WLS is medically necessary.

I also have fibromyalgia, but I do not believe they take that into consideration when it comes to medicaid.

My doctor referred me to the required orientation for Dec. 16th, 2015. I was approved today, January 11th, 2016.

I have to complete these requirements by July 4th, 2016

12 dietician visits

12 physical therapy visits

bariatric psych eval ( or my last years records from my counselor)

EKG

I live in Clarkston, WA. My PCP Tamara Bruns (Nurse) got me into the program. I will be having surgery at Rockwood Surgical Group in Spokane, WA.

I did the same thing under my Drs advice. I had 5 dr supervised diets.. atkins 2 times.. hgc.. all in 6 years. I wrote them a 2 page letter. Let's just hope for the best. Good Luck! I know I'll get approved but it's the wait! Im on everything as soon as I get the approval! Don't DO anything until you get the approval.. it wont count! I read it in the rules!

I also wrote a personal letter to Molina as to why I need the surgery, I listed all 12 diets that I have been on over the last 5 years, all my weight related issues, and my supports. The goal was to make Molina understand how motivated I am and how much I need the surgery, now we have to wait for the approval to take the next step

Yayyyy! Good for you! FINALLYYYYY I start in June too.. getting all my appts made!

Have you read about the woman who got approved for the next stage in 3 months? Im wondering if I can get all the steps done that quick too.

Molina told me that I just have to do the 3 twelves, 12 dietitian 12 physical therapy and 12 behavior therapy appointments

Yes, here too. Thing is I wonder how close together we can get them scheduled. They may be booked up.. lots of people on medicaid are doing this now. Im worst worry is not being able to get in as often as I would like. 1 a week for each one would do it IF we can do them all at the same time. That's like 3 appts a week for 3 months.

My primary care physician said that he recommends attempting the 3 month goal because it will give wiggle room for appointment rescheduling.

Wow that is awesome. I havent been to an appt yet. My first appt since getting approved is next tuesday. Do you have any suggestions. I would love to finish everything up in 3 months!

Kim

Oh I still have a ton of stuff to do, im just getting my foot in the door with the university. Havent been with any of the doctors there yet. Im not too far in too this ordeal yet. My referring doctor said I might get approved for the surgery ( and be done with all the steps during the 6 months in Dec)

I dont really have any advise, I read alot and do research online about as much as I can . Ive started keeping a log of what I eat. I dont do it every day now. I did for a month when I was being really strict on my diet. That was helpful to go back to and look at too see what I ate and how much that helped me kick start my weight loss. Ive currently lost 21 lbs since started.
