  1. Rockwood Weight Loss Center This is the total cost (minus two night stay in Deaconess Medical Center) for sleeve/bypass/lapband. They also require a bariatric psych eval (around $300), an EKG and labs. Some people might need more testing. These are not listed in cost, as you get them through PCP. Cost for sleeve is just under $7000.
  2. I was approved today to begin Stage 2 of Molina's bariatric program. I am a 5'5", 309 pound 35 year old female. My BMI is 50. I have one co-morbidity of high blood pressure, and a doctor who believes that WLS is medically necessary. I also have fibromyalgia, but I do not believe they take that into consideration when it comes to medicaid. My doctor referred me to the required orientation for Dec. 16th, 2015. I was approved today, January 11th, 2016. I have to complete these requirements by July 4th, 2016 12 dietician visits 12 physical therapy visits bariatric psych eval ( or my last years records from my counselor) EKG I live in Clarkston, WA. My PCP Tamara Bruns (Nurse) got me into the program. I will be having surgery at Rockwood Surgical Group in Spokane, WA.

Stage 1 is getting into program. Stage 2 is actively completing insurance goals, like losing g 5%, all of your doctor visits psych eval, testing etc. Stage 3 is surgery approval which happens after you meet insurance requirements. It's when you get your surgery date.

No, they dont. As long as you meet your 5% goal (5% of weight that was logged in approval, then you will be fine. You have to go to your doctors office to be weighed. Get the EARLIEST appointments for weight checks. Go number 1 (and number 2 if you can) BEFORE weighing. Wear the LIGHTEST and LEAST amount of clothing. Always take off your shoes. Minor weight fluctuations are normal, especially because of Water, stress, and even exercise. Making all of your requirements, including your tests and 5% will trigger your Stage 3, which will get you a surgery date roughly two to 4 weeks out, depending on how much you weigh, and scheduling. During that time, you will be put on a 2 to 4 week liquid Protein diet. I asked my PCP if she would prescribe me Phentermine during that time, and she thought that was a reasonable request, to keep me from being too miserable on it.

Remember that when the Molina Bariatric nurse starts callin for monthly phone check ins, to be honest, but also positive, proactive, and realistic in expectations. They like that kinda thing.

I called the surgery center the day I completed my appointments, and they got me into their schedule ASAP, which was two weeks out at that time. I don't know what you mean by test results appointment.

I ended up being fast tracked for surgery, and had it at 4 months, instead of 6

OH BTW...Rockwood now has a plastic surgeon that can and will take Apple Health referrals...and if you have loose skin had any kind of rash, Rockwood will refer you two years after sleeve surgery!

Kim, I went from approval to surgery in 3 months. At Rockwood in Spokane, they can fast track you as long as you have half of your 12 pt/NUT/counseling visits done and half of your 6 Dr. Visits done, your 5% lost, EKG and Psych Eval completed.

    So happy for you guys!!!
  12. Congratulations!! Was your 74 pound loss all post-op, or pre-op included?
  13. At the club, they do a 15 minute warm up, then focus on a part for the day (leg day/abs day, etc) for 15 minutes, then mitts. It would be cool to be able to do something at home. I may have to get a jump rope and buy a bag.
  14. I actually just looked into my local womens boxing club. They dont spar, they do alot of mitt work. I kinda wish they did spar though.

My doctor sent in the papers to medicaid in November 2015, then i went to my required information meeting in December 2015. I got an answer back on January 9th, 2016. So approximately 2 to 2.5 months.
  16. I have been actively dieting since 02/21/2016 to meet my pre-op requirements. I have gone from 315 to 290 on my own before the liquid pre-op that started 04/11/2016. I am on day 9 of the pre-op, drinking my five RTD premier Protein shakes, drinking at least 80oz. of plain Water a day. I have chicken broth during lunch time to help with hunger pangs, and a sugar free Jello cup at some point during the day if the hunger gets to me. My daily total is on target, 800 calories a day, 25 carbs per day, my sodium is a total of 2325 mgs per day. NUT said that SF jello, SF Popsicle and chicken broth are "freebies" to a degree (also said dont worry about sodium, but i still watch it very closely), but i dont do popsicles and I only have one cup of broth and a single jello cup. Thats it. Literally. Haven't strayed once. I walk 20 to 30 minutes a day, and use my stretch tubes for strength training. I've lost 5 pounds, on my best day, putting me at 285. Most days, Im bouncing between 286 and 287. TOM came and went, so Im fairly sure its not that. My surgeon said he would like to see me at 280 by surgery day on 4/25/2016. That leaves me only 5 days left. I feel like crying. Im taking all the supplements. Im following my plan exactly. In my paperwork, they say that I should lose between 8 to 15 pounds on liquid pre-op, and that its an indicator of being off-plan if you don't. Im not giving up by any means, but I am worried. Nutritionist is supposed to be calling me back today, so I am hoping he can offer some insight as to what is happening.

  18. I wish he hadnt made it sound like I would be failing if I didnt live up to that expectation. I weigh daily, because of this expectation. I am happy with what I have lost, but given his words and the writing in my instructions, staying off the scale doesn't feel like much of an option at the moment. local tragedy has the single women in a panic

Also, Background checks arent really helpful if someone was never caught or charged with violent crimes. Sometimes, you are the first one. Sometimes, they are an upstanding member of the community that people "never thought would be capable of that". That...and when people say "BACKGROUND CHECKS LADIES!!!" its victim blaming. Like if she would have done her homework, followed certain steps, she wouldnt have been murdered. He was going to kill someone. Thats on him.

His mom and dad knew he was crazy. they got a restraining order on him a couple years ago for threatening them. The whole family knew he was crazy, and violent when he drank. So they kept their distance.
  21. My uncle died in a horrific car accident yesterday. Ive felt nauseous since. Ive been continuing with my liquid diet, even though its making me want to wretch. I have a really really hard time eating or doing anything when Im grieving or upset like this. I don't want to eat. I dont want to drink. I am forcing myself to do all of that, and even go out and be in the sun and move. But the nausea isnt abating. I thought I was constipated so I took some laxative last night before bed, and still nothing today. Im a little leery of taking Tums because of the Calcium (my 5 shakes each have 50% of the daily requirement of calcium...Im over twice the recommended amount right now) but i took it in case its indigestion. Didn't work. I am at a loss on how to deal with this. I have things I need to get done, not feel naueous and miserable all day.
  22. Im on day 4 of mine, and my memory and patience are gone. Im also really emotional :/ Im not craving food like I was up until yesterday, though, but this fatigue and moodiness is awful. Im kinda worried that this is what the weeks after getting the sleeve will be like for me. I dont want to feel like this.

John Robert Charlton is my brother in laws cousin. I cant believe what he put that woman and her family through. ETA: Just got off the phone with my sister. My sister, her husband and her mother in law have all received death threats and other threats on Facebook since last night. This is absolutely freaking insane. Why are people compelled to do this? Like this isnt bad enough already, lets just attack ANYONE with the same last name!
