I'm on full liquids. Is sugar free hot chocolate a good idea or bad idea?

I had my surgery on 12/21, I came home 12/23. To say I am stubborn would be an understatement, therefore I never pushed the pump but once. I was up walking as soon as they would let me out of bed, pushing myself as far as I could go. Setting my alarm to make sure I was working my liquids etc. My shoulder pain ended up moving to my chest and making it very difficult to breath about 3AM. The nurse turned off my alarm and handed me pain pills and said trust us we know what we are doing. She was the best thing that could have happened to me. Heat made a huge difference with the gas pains and even though the doctor kept me an extra night it was worth it. I went home feeling great, I only have had to use the pain meds at night. Now let's talk the liquid diet, I can get a Protein shake and a Protein hot chocolate down. I cannot stand chicken broth in any form, never had that problem. I can eat Jello but everything is just so sweet. I finally tried Tomato Soup and liked it. Tomorrow I'm going to try yogurt and sugar free pudding. I am really looking forward to soft foods starting next Monday after my check. I gained 7 pounds in the hospital that was fluids and that has been off after about 3 days. I am so thankful for my Dr and nurses who helped me understand that I could be driven and not be in pain.

I have one that has Protein in it the nutritionist recommended and I have regular sugar free as well. The heat is a nice change from the shakes.

I had my one week follow up appointment today and they removed my drain. They said to stay on liquids until Thursday and on Friday I can start puree food. I'm so excited for that! I'm down 13 pounds. :) So far so good.

I don't really have a puree section in my diet. What exactly are you pureeing? Do you just take a whole small meal and blend it? I can have cream Soups (like cream of mushroom), which pretty much pureed.< /p>

In my plan, purée allows soft scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, hummus, purees soups (bean, etc), refried Beans thinned with broth, pureed tuna, chicken, other meats, mashed potatoes, etc.

I had my sleeve surgery on December 22, 2015. Right now, it hurts when I swallow liquid. I can only take in 3 oz at a time, and I am having trouble meeting the minimum requirement of 32 oz per day. I was given Hycel as a pain medicine to use at home. I only used it the first day back from the hospital, as it made me sick.

I've noticed that I swallow a lot of air when I swallow liquid. It helps me to stand up or just reposition and I'm able to belch and it doesn't hurt to swallow.

Finally had 2oz of hummus, and it was amazing. I bought some Musclepharm combat Protein Powder Cookies and cream shake and mixed 1/2 scoop with a cup of Decaf instant coffee, it was like having a Starbucks coffee. Tomorrow is my post surgery education meeting and I get to know what I can finally eat.

Down 15 lbs since surgery on the 21st. Glad the scale is finally moving in the right direction.

Also, first day with hardly any pain, I could even lay on my stomach. I finally am feeling more like myself just a little lighter. So far day 8 is the best.

I could not drink out of the tiny cups, I got too much air so I switched to a regular bottle.

I agree, drinking Water out of those tiny cups made me swallow air and I had to burp up the air each sip I took. It was very painful. They brought me a larger water bottle finally and that made a huge difference.

Regressing? I've been feeling great and doing a lot of things around the house and going for long walks and last night I ended up with some pain in my left side (no where near an incision) and was seeing spots thought I was going to pass out I was so weak!! I'm getting in my 60g of Protein and 100oz Water a day. Felt better most of the day but still not as good as I did and I've got a low grade fever of 100.2. Think I just over extended myself the last 2 days???

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
