I'm not a trucker but my parents are owner operators. My mother will be in surgery in 1-2 months, she plans on getting the sleeve. She has a Ninja cooker in her truck which is like an oven, slow cooker and stove top all in one. It's a little pricey but worth the money! They also have a cooler in the truck where she can store leftovers. She can make stuffed peppers, eggs, mini crab cakes, ricotta bake, chicken fajitas (chicken and fajita packet), beef roast with green Beans, slow cooker pork ribs, split pea Soup with diced deli ham, white bean and ham. When she's home they smoke chicken and ribs and take it with them. The possibilities are endless if you have room for a little cooker or crockpot in your truck. Chicken salad, tuna salad, crab salad with a tiny bit of mayo or avocado is easy and can store in your mini fridge or cooler. i would keep nuts, low cal cheese sticks, unflavored Protein powder and crystal light on hand too for Snacks and getting your Protein in.

One of her biggest issues is going to be that she won't be able to eat all of the leftovers she's going to have which could mean stopping for groceries more often.

I am not a trucker, but I travel the globe for my job. I eat out for more than half my meals. I cannot help you on what to bring in the truck to cook, but I can tell you that if you eat in restaurants, you can almost always order things like plain chicken breast or the smallest piece of steak and a salad and get quite filled up.

If you have to, order from the kids menu. At first, it will seem odd, but as time goes, you will get over that. Just last Friday I went out to a local pub where they served bar food.....beers, burgers and bar pizzas. How would I find anything there? They had an option for a grilled chicken burger in place of the hamburger. I got it plain, put the bun and fries to the side and had a nice meal. You just have to think outside the box and you'll be fine.

As for exercise, walk. The single easiest thing you can do is walk. Park furthest away from the building in the parking lot and walk. Take the stairs in a hotel rather than the elevator. As time goes on, will find that walking is no longer the chore it once was. And then you can add some exercise. I can't help you with driver-specific exercises, but I am sure someone else will chime in.

Good luck.

Ron

Im on day12 post op not working currently took the time off to do this. im a local driver so what I plan to do might not work for you if your otr. I plan on bringing 2 shakes and packing cooler with my small meals for each day to munch on while I work.

now as for otr al li can suggest is bring Protein powder, ( a small black n decker food processor im still on pureed food) as long as you have a mini fridge to store foods in as you said you have the cooker some glad containers to store foods you prep sleep your hours get up mix your meals make em easy to grab or eat from so to minimize down time for meals. and that's about all you can do pack as much as you can for how long your gone if its 30 days be sure to pack an extra weeks of supplies ie Vitamins etc. for weather purposes/breakdowns. I know Walmart sells pureed meals in cans 5 servings per can each meal is 3 oz. check on stuff like that.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
