What's been your biggest post op realization about food

  • Popular Post

I had my sleeve on Sept 2, 2015. Since then I've realized a lot of things about the way I used to eat.

The biggest thing I've realized is just how much I over ate. When I started really looking at portion size post op it dawned on me how much smaller it is than what I used to eat. Like a box of mac n cheese is 4 servings...not 1. A serving of Cereal is half a cup, not "until the bowl is full"

I ate so many carbs before because they are just easy to grab, munch and digest. Now I can imagine a life lived without eating much bread, Pasta, potatoes or rice. I really don't miss them or crave them at all. The things I have to keep out of the house include chocolate candy, cake, Cookies, brownies - I still would love to eat that stuff if given a chance so I just don't keep it around the house.

However, when I get to maintenance, I plan on having a bowl of Cereal for Breakfast every now and then. I kind of miss the cereal.

I think my biggest realization has been that getting healthy, and eating well, and buying food that is not poisoned with GM owes another chemicals, as well as being able to take hog quality vitamins, is a privilege. I realized that part of how my weight got so out of control was that I was to impoverished for many years to take care of my body. I am very grateful that my circumstances have improved so much, which is allowing me to become healthier.
