My insurance coordinator just told me they can't submit for authorization until 30 days before my procedure ???????????? its scheduled for Jan 18. So we have to wait two weeks. I'm nervous and really anxious. I don't wanna push my date up.

I thought BCBS doesn't cover bariatric surgery

It depends on what state u you in and what your employer decide to cover I'm in Florida and as an State employee it's covered

Also you just have to be diligent with all steps.Start with an accounting of your weight with your primary...at least 6 months and start from there.

I don't have to do the 6 month wait, my pcp submitted my referral to surgeon, all I have to do now is psc test, then blood work and send off to insurance for approval

Hi I'm in NJ too and my husband has BCBS through his union and I was told the same thing it takes about 30 days for approvals to process.

It's funny that you post that today. Just got a call from my insurance coordinator. She submitted it today. Thanks lol! About how long did it take for a response?

My coordinator has not submitted my paperwork yet because all I have left to do is my sleep study. Let me know how it goes and how soon they get back to you.

My stuff was submitted last Thursday and I was approved today. How did your sleep study go?

BCBS in NJ wouldn't approve me. So I changed to Aetna and got it done.
