  1. Hi everyone I would like to know if anybody else out there has to wait until April or May 2016 to get surgery. I started the long process last month in November. I don't mind waiting especially to train my mind and body for new lifestyle but 6 months is a long time I wish it was only 3. Since appointment with nutritionist on 11/19 I did loose 10 lbs from cutting out bread and Pasta from my diet. Starting weight 242lbs and now 232lbs I do not want to lose more than another 20lbs or they may not approve surgery next spring. I need to get this other person off of me I'm tired of being heavy I have so many dreams of what I will be doing when I am lighter. My goal weight is 125-130 I would be happy at 140 too. I am a little mad at myself for not starting this early and the time is going by sooooo slow now. Anybody out there that would like to share their thoughts?

  4. I'm sure this question has been asked many times but I'm asking again because my surgery is scheduled and I'm getting nervous. How long from when insurance company gets paperwork does it take for approval or denial? 48 hours, a week, a month??? Somebody give me good news.

My APPROVAL story with BCBS Federal (TX)

Wow what a detailed summary, I have BCBS NJ they approved me in 24 hours I did pretty much everything you had listed in your summary except my insurance did not require 2 year history of weight loss but did require 6 months of supervised weight loss I was doing WW so that counted and did another 3 months with nutritionist. My surgery date is March 7th what is yours?

    The wait game!

Still nothing for me emailed the coordinator Monday, and she has yet to reply, which makes me that more frustrated! Call your insurance company find out the status from them. Sometimes the call to insurance company pushes them to review your documents and decide.

    Insurance approval being submitted

Submomma I have BCBSNJ and the doctor's office sent the information in on 02/22 and was approved 24 hours later. Call your insurance company and tell them you're checking to see if your doctor submitted the paperwork for approval. They will tell you if it's there and pending when that happens not much time goes by and you find out you were approved (God willing).
  15. Well for anyone who read my post I would like to report I got a call last night from my patient navigator and she said BCBS approved me. I was shocked at knowing it only took literally 24 hours.
  16. I have my surgery scheduled for March 7th as soon as I found out a couple of days ago I sent human resources an email to request time off. She didn't respond to me yesterday so I called her today to make sure she got my email. She then says I have to look at your file because last year you took time off and you may have exhausted your FMLA. Last October I took off 2 weeks because I was very stressed out and my doctor recommended I take the time off. I believe we should have 12 weeks in a 12 week period for FMLA, correct me if I'm wrong. The Human Resource person is saying you have to take the 12 weeks for the same medical issue???? Is she correct? Does anybody know about this and can explain it to me. I have a feeling she seems annoyed at my request.

  21. Find out from your surgeon if clearance from your psychiatrist would be sufficient?
  22. I had an interest in Bariatric surgery last year in May but there were so many personal issues besides being unhappy with my weight that I had to deal with so I decided to see a therapist and psychiatrist instead .....well after 6 months of therapy and Lexapro I finally had a clear head to focus on me and I finally made an appointment at the Bariatric center I started loosing weight in the pre-op stages waiting on surgery date and am continuing therapy because it really held to talk to someone who has no interest in judging you but only to listen to everything you want to tell them that's on your mind.
  23. Well I guess this is news to me I better save my FSA money for my surgery date.
