Hi! I had my surgery through Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids and they have a couple different meeting times for support groups. I'm not sure if they have patients attend from other facilities or not, but it might be worth it to call and ask. I've never been able to go because I work later hours.

I've joined an online support group on Facebook, but that's not very active. If you find any other groups, I'd love to know about them!

Grand health partners is where I'm having my surgery through. Mind if I ask who your surgeon was? Mine is Dr Nagle.

I've heard about their support groups. I work nights so I figured I will give it a try and go to a few of them.. See if it works with my schedule.

If I find anymore I will definitely let you know!

I had surgery with Dr. Baker with Grand Health Partners. They have many different support group options; some are in the evenings, some in the mornings, some mid-afternoon. They typically give you a list of their support group schedule. You can always pick one up anytime by stopping into the office.

I have not been to them since my surgery (October). I did the medical program through them about 5 years ago and attended support groups. They were wonderful.

My work schedule is a little wonky at the moment, but if you would like someone to go with you, please reach out and we can try to arrange something.

@@bluejeanbaby I had my surgery in June with Dr. Kemmeter. I love GHP!

I know the last time I checked they had a group that met around lunch time on Thursdays, but I can't make that, and I worked late on the 2 nights they typically had the 5 or 6:00 meetings. I'll have to grab a new schedule at my 6-month appointment and see if there are any I can make now!

When's your surgery?

My surgery is scheduled for December 30th at noon!! I'm crazy excited and cannot wait!!

I had mine October 22.

My mom is having hers December 23. I live in the GR area (Comstock Park). She lives in Greenville. I'm happy to get together sometime for walking, talking...whatever you need.

I hope everything is going well since your surgery!

I'd love to build a support system! Don't know many people who have had the surgery so it would be nice to have some people to talk to!

That would be great! Thank you so much!!

There are hundreds of people around that have had the surgery. The support groups at GHP would be a great place to meet up with people who have had the surgery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
