First Post! Kinda hesitant...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I'm just getting rolling with everything. Waiting on insurance approval and getting my clearances done. I feel unbelievably impatient!

I also kind of feel like I'm in the minority here. I'm only 27 and I feel like everyone is older. Like maybe I'm too young to be resorting to surgery. But at the same time I'm only 5'5" and have a BMI of 51 so I don't want to keep waiting. I'm sure it's just jitters though. Either way thank you to everybody that posts on here. It's a great tool for me!

There are plenty of youngsters around. I think there is a section for 20 somethings.

Welcome!

Congrats on getting things moving towards your goals.

You are never too young to embrace your health.

I'll bet if you could ask anyone on here what their biggest health-related regrets are......top of the list would be for waiting so long to take this action.

Get healthy and be safe. Being young is a good thing, in my opinion. :D

I am 34, not sure if I count in your book as "older" or not. Anyway, there's no reason to wait--most people will tell you that their only regret about their surgery is that they didn't do it sooner!

Congrats and good luck. Don't let your age dissuade you. I'm sure if you ask some of the older folks they wish they were able to get the surgery at your age. Oh and @@lauraellen80 34 is def not "older" at least I hope not. Haha

I am 26 years old. I am doing a 9 months of supervised visits. I just got done with my 7th month. I will probably have surgery in February. Hopefully. It seems like it's taking forever but I can't even believe it's November. It will be our time soon enough. Good luck!

I'm hoping December or January too. I was lucky and don't have to do much for my insurance to cover it. I'm just waiting on approval.

I just turned 28 and I'll be having surgery December 1st :) I wanted to do this now while I'm young and mostly healthy instead of putting it off for years and developing health problems. This is the best decision I can make for myself.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
