I am writing this post mainly because I think I will feel better if I write :) I am on day one of my pre op liquid diet. SO far so good!!!!! I can have Protein Shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles, unsweet tea/coffee, and lots of Water. I have been very, very, anxious about this and that is not normal for me. I would appreciate any support. I can handle being hungry, I just do not want to feel bad. Let's see how this afternoon and night go!!!!!!

You can do this! You'll be surprised how easy it gets after a few days. (don't have to make a whole lot of decisions...) Just think of the end result :)

I am at the same point as you!

I started with the Protein shakes and stuff yesterday and so far I feel ok, a little weak but not too bad. The worst part for me is "Prime Time" on TV. I used to sit and snack and watch my favorite shows... now I need a new routine... I'm also a bit anxious/scared because I feel like I am losing a friend... I think I will try to have a fatty food funeral to get some closure. LOL

Thank you, ladies!!!!!! I have felt really good all day. When I hungry, I go for broth or a shake. If this is as bad as it gets, I can do this with no problem!!!!! But..... does it get worse????????

LessofMe.... I completely understand! I feel like I am losing my best friend! That speaks volumes... it shows we eat for lots of other reasons than being hungry. Maybe we both need to concentrate on figuring out if we are 'head' hungry or physically hungry after surgery. Do you feel worse today than yesterday?

I am really excited...... I hope not too soon. I can handle this well if I feel like this for the remaining time.

Congrats on the insurance approval. I had mine about 2 months ago. I had a small hiccup last month (supposed to have surgery on Oct. 19) but my Triglycerides were too high. I needed to get some meds to get the numbers down. Finally got the go ahead last week and started my 10 day pre-op diet within 2 days.

As for being hungry... I haven't noticed it much today. but then again, I am working so not so much. Evening seems to be the worst.

I hope not too..... It's one of those things that some doctors care about more than others.

Some do not require the 10 day diet, others require more than that.

By the way... Still doing pretty good here. Had my lunch Soup mix and my afternoon snack shake. Feeling like I can do this!

How are you faring?

Day 2 was easier than day 1.

My surgeon has me on the Optifast diet. I drink 3 Protein Shakes a day, I get 1 Protein Soup (tomato or creamy chicken) 1 Protein Bar (yummy chocolate) and one small lowfat dairy item ( Greek yogurt or cottage cheese) along with all the broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles, herbal tea and Water I want.

I don't feel like its much of a diet but its only 900 calories

Awesome! That is great news!!!!!!

I was a bad girl last night. I did GREAT all day up until about 11:00. I couldnt sleep because the neuropathy in my feet was really bad, even after taking my meds. I was frustrated and ended up eating a weenie and a few spoons of chili. I wasnt starving, I just wanted it. I am really disappointed in myself and I will not let it happen again. Overall though, I was very proud of myself and thought I still did really well.

I am doing good today, but waited a little too long to have my second shake today and got a little week. I am fine though and doing well :) I know being home after work is going to be the hardest time for me, late afternoon and evening. I want to take my neuropathy pills really early because they make me sleepy.

It is great to hear how well you are doing! It inspires me!!! This pre op diet is not the two headed monster I thought it was going to be. I know me being able to have caffeine is a BIG help.

Keep me posted!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
