  6. Day 2 was easier than day 1. My surgeon has me on the optifast diet. I drink 3 protein shakes a day, I get 1 protein soup (tomato or creamy chicken) 1 protein bar (yummy chocolate) and one small lowfat dairy item ( Greek yogurt or cottage cheese) along with all the broth, sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles, herbal tea and water I want. I don't feel like its much of a diet but its only 900 calories
  7. I hope not too..... It's one of those things that some doctors care about more than others. Some do not require the 10 day diet, others require more than that. By the way... Still doing pretty good here. Had my lunch Soup mix and my afternoon snack shake. Feeling like I can do this! How are you faring?
  8. Congrats on the insurance approval. I had mine about 2 months ago. I had a small hiccup last month (supposed to have surgery on Oct. 19) but my Triglycerides were too high. I needed to get some meds to get the numbers down. Finally got the go ahead last week and started my 10 day pre-op diet within 2 days. As for being hungry... I haven't noticed it much today. but then again, I am working so not so much. Evening seems to be the worst.

  10. I am at the same point as you! I started with the Protein shakes and stuff yesterday and so far I feel ok, a little weak but not too bad. The worst part for me is "Prime Time" on TV. I used to sit and snack and watch my favorite shows... now I need a new routine... I'm also a bit anxious/scared because I feel like I am losing a friend... I think I will try to have a fatty food funeral to get some closure. LOL

  13. Wow I am too scared to cheat..... I worry that my doc will cancel if I do. In two days on liquid diet I have lost 5 pounds so that alone has been a great motivator. I guess it has to do with will power and Mind over Matter (food that is) I have tried to occupy myself with other things instead of food.... Cleaning the house, reading a book, but I was also told that I could have all the sugar free Popsicles that I want. That has been a huge help. I feel like I am snacking but it really has no caloric repercussions.
  14. I am actually getting really excited. My surgery is on the 12th and I started the 10 day diet today. It almost seems to me like I am eating so much on this diet. 3 shakes a day plus 1 Soup and 1 Protein bar then 1 lowfat dairy item... along with all the broth, sugar free Popsicles, and sugar free Jello I can handle. I don't feel like I am on a diet other than not having to chew anything. I am a bit concerned about my blood sugar levels though without anything carb-y throughout the day. I will keep checking my sugar.

  16. My doctor requires all patients to go on the Optifast diet for 10 days prior to surgery. The shakes and Soups taste great. I just started today so I have not eaten the Protein bar yet, but it is chocolate so I am sure it will be good. Surgery on the 12th! I am getting ready for the big changes to come.
  17. I am very excited! My surgery was scheduled for October 19th. The hospital where I am going to have my procedure done requires a 10 day liquid fast prior to surgery . This ensures that the liver will shrink and not obstruct the surgical tools. I start the 10 day liquid fast using prescribed Opti-Fast drinks on October 9th. I am a little bit nervous about everything.
