Oct 2015 RNY....How are you doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Brooke here...I had my procedure on 10/13. My HW was 366. On surgery day 351. As of 10/30 330 pounds...Really hoping to lose 30 more by Christmas. My goal for myself...I have had a few episodes of dumping and now I'm terrified to eat anything but Protein Shakes. I feel fantastic, except for the occasional gas pains. I started walking about 1 mile a day and I get about 6000 steps in a day. So far I'm pleased with my loss, but my hubby has yet to say he can see the difference. Anyone else having that problem? ??

It could be that your husband sees you every day so it's a little harder to notice. That's one thing about diets/losing weight in the past, it was too hard for people i was around all the time to notice unless I didn't see them for a few days.

Just know the scale is moving and you are losing. I would also recommend taking measurements with a measuring tape because that will clarify your loss there too.

My surgery was 10/23 and I'm still having a little left over pain in my abdomen, I only need pain meds at the end of the day when I've done a lot of walking, which i have been doing the last 4 days. I haven't had any dumping but my Protein drink made me really sick the one time I had it, so i know im not getting my Protein in. I start lunch meats tomorrow so I'm hoping to start making up a little of the protein. I even had a sweet tea (with very light sugar) 2 days in a row to help with my fluids and i was okay. What did you dump on?

Congrats on the weight loss, that's pretty awesome. I was 353 on surgery day so we aren't too far from each other.

They have a almost tasteless protein that you can mix in anything. I can't recall the name just yet, but I'll post it later. I had some fairlife milk with sugar free Syrup and it didn't agree with me. My NUT just told me in our software foods class that reaching out minimum protein and fluids are a goal and not something they expect us to achieve so early. I get around 60 grams a day now, but that just started a few days ago. Keep pushing you can do it. Congratulations on your procedure and thanks for the hubby response.????

I had my surgery on 10/12. My HW: 248, SW: 235 CW: 221. Immediately after surgery I had gas pain for about 3 days, it started subside afterwards. I returned to work the following week. I haven't dumped on anything. If course 1st week was all fluids; 2nd week, I was able to incorporate yogurt, loose oatmeal, and applesauce. The 3rd week, I was able to have tuna or salmon, 1/2 egg, 1/4-1/2 toast or 2 small crackers. This week and the next 2 weeks, I can have flaky fish, soft cooked veggies, canned fruit no juice, soft cooked mac and cheese, quinoa, hummus, small pastas with Tomato sauce. I'm looking forward to some real food.

I started walking 1 mile a day last week. Thus far, I feel wonderful!

I had my surgery on 10/8 3 1/2 weeks out. My highest weight 238, surgery weight 230. Current weight 220. I seem to be loosing about 2.5 lbs per week so far. It seems like I would loose more with as little as I'm eating but I have always been a very slow looser. Although I never could loose like this in one week. It would take me twice as long, & starving at the same time. I have just a slight feeling of hunger when I haven't ate in 5 hrs. I have no trouble eating anything, but keep the amounts only at 1/2 cup at a time 2x a day. I have a Protein shake with fat free milk in the morning. I'm walking everyday but for only 30min. I feel great, getting energy back & no pain. I still have a little bloating & have to add Miralax every other day to my Water to keep things moving. I get at least 60g of Protein a day & 64oz of Water.< /p>

Hopefully I'm doing everything right!!

today is my 2 week post op visit and official weigh in day. I started my pre-op diet on 10/7 weighing 276.2lbs. Surgery Day I weighed in at 265.6 for a total loss of 10.6lbs. Today I weighed in at 254lbs for 11.6lbs loss since surgery. Total loss 22.2lbs. I am also glad I have post-op appt today as I am dealing with some pain that came about yesterday. It is really hard to get fluids in when not feeling good. Gotta try to do better today.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
