Cash pay doctors in the US

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some cash pay/self pay doctors in the US. I live in Louisiana and my Bmi is a 37 and my insurance will not approve me. I'm not closed to going to Mexico, but I would love it if I could find someone in the US to do my surgery. Could someone please help me or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks!!

I'm self pay and am using Dr. Clayton Frenzel in Dallas. I'm not opposed to Mexico but my husband certainly was!! ???? I have also heard great things about Dr. Nicholson in Dallas.

Hello,

I highly recommend the Nicholson Clinic in Dallas area, they are an awesome group that will work with you and have great self-pay options.

My doctor in Hampton Roads, VA does a "bundled" self pay. It includes EVERYTHING from pre and post op care to hospital fees.

This is the same for me ready2bmenow My husband doesn't want me going to Mexico either and I definitely don't want to travel out there alone. He rather we pay the extra money to get it done in the states and I'm ok with that compromise.

That sounds just like my husband. I ended up having a hiatal hernia so it is going to end up costing me about the same as Mexico! Hope your journey goes well!! I am still preop and can not wait!!

Honestly, if you have the cash, I would fully recommend that you do the surgery in Mexico because you will pay like 30-40% what you'd pay in the US for about the exact same level of care and medical standards.

You know, our healthcare system is actually ranked #37 in the world. Mexico is #60. Not a huge difference between them.

I am having surgery in Mexico in 12 days. I have no qualms about the facility I chose. I have researched it, their Facebook page has allowed me to talk to the nurses, the drivers, my surgeon, two patient coordinators, and dozens of current and former patients. Their sleeve surgeries start at $4200 and is a package price. Patients can take a companion, but those who go down alone say that they were totally comfortable and never really alone.

Patients are constantly posting pictures of the hospital rooms, hotel rooms, selfies with the drivers. Questions are answered within minutes by staff and the surgeons themselves. Don't rule out Mexico. I am very excited and have no worries at all.

That doesn't sound bad at all. What doctor did you choose in Mexico?

@losing4ree I am using a company called A Lighter Me. My surgeon is Dr. Elias Ortiz. He is the chief surgeon of the facility. I fly down to San Diego on the 21st. My companion and I will be picked up by a driver at the airport and driven to Tijuana. After blood tests, etc at the hospital, he drives us to the hotel for the night. The next morning, he picks us up from the hotel and drives us to the hospital. I have surgery and we stay in the hospital for two nights. My companion stays with me the entire time. After the second night, they do one more leak test to make sure the stomach isn't leaking and we are driven back to the hotel for another two nights of recovery.

We will be staying at the Tijuana Grand Hotel. The 11th floor is dedicated to surgery recovery with nurses on staff. During the next two days, the driver takes us out shopping and to the pharmacy if we want. On the morning of the sixth day, we check out of the hotel and our driver takes us back to the airport in San Diego. Easy peesy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
