Traveling! Need soft food ideas for flights.

Recommended Posts

I am making an impromptu trip that will have me flying for about 8 hours. I am in the soft foods stage and am struggling to come up with soft food/snack ideas. Any suggestions?

you could bring bananas, those little apple sauce cups, Protein Powder and you can get bottled Water on plane or before you get on to mix it with, tuna in packets (if allowed). and drink lots of water. You may find that you don't need alot. I can eat something and it will be hours before I am even hungry again. You can always get a Protein Drink in after you land or if you have a layover and that will help with your Protein intake.

Because of liquid restrictions on carry-on bags, the pre-mixed Protein drinks probably won't work. Try Protein Powder with Water as @@ivy4u suggested. I would keep it simple, and stick with fruit and Protein drink during the flight, until you get somewhere where you have a good restaurant that lets you have a wider variety of foods (the airport restaurants are generally not so good in that way).

Most of the drinks on the plane are no-nos, since you can't have juice or carbonated beverages. Probably just stick with Water.< /p>

When you get to your destination, getting sufficient protein will almost certainly be a problem. You will need Protein Drinks (made yourself from powder) to allow you to get your necessary protein in.

BTW, you may find the following blender bottles to be useful, if you have time to get them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZOX2FG

You might call TSA and see if you can get any liquids through win a drs note requiring it to be medically necessary.

Thank you so much for the ideas! I was hoping to not have to do Protein Drinks, but it sounds like that may be the way to go.

I really love the almond or Peanut Butter packets. They sell them at Starbucks and some have honey in them but I'd just get the plain ones. I don't know where you're at but fruit is still very iffy for me and I wouldn't try it on a plane. You can have hummus but just remember the easiest but probably not the best tasting thing for traveling is Protein powder. You can take it everywhere!

The problem is that you don't just need to think about the flight, but the destination too. I presume you will be eating in restaurants a lot, if not the whole time. Getting enough Protein from restaurant food at the soft foods stage is going to be iffy at best. That's the reason why you need to rely on Protein drinks from powder, which you can put in your luggage and make anywhere. Sure you can bring instant oatmeal and such, but those won't have sufficient protein, and you would have to add protein powder to them anyway.

I travel for work too, and although I haven't had to travel since my surgery, I have done a lot of thinking about how I will survive on my trips.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
