Recommended Posts

So today I started my clear liquid diet and already I have the bubble guts I'm excited and scared all at the same time I'm struggling with this diet and my inner goofy gave in glhqd ice cream. Kind of embarrassing already giving in after the first day. Any advice.

Just curious why you are on a clear liquid pre-op diet? Mine was protien shakes (I.e. Not clear). Be sure you are still getting plenty of Protein. It will help with the cravings and hunger. I didn't haven to do a clear liquid diet until post op.

I am actually 4 months post op now. My first week after surgery was Clear liquids. But honestly my new tummy didnt want much else. Your just trying to stay hydrated. Second week I think it took me all day to drink one premier Protein drink. By week 3 I could get in 2 Protein drinks a day. By week 4 I started on soft foods if they were well chewed. I found Greek yogurt was easy to get down. . Talk to your surgeon. Every surgeon seems to have slightly different approaches. If you trust them to do the surgery, trust them on the diet too. .

P.s. I still do a premier Protein Drink most weekday morning to make sure I get my Protein in. Can't stress enough how important getting the protein in is! That is what is going to make your recovery go better. Your body needs it to repair itself.

I haven't read people doing an all clear liquid diet for 2 weeks but have heard ppl do a Protein liquid diet for 2 weeks and either one or two day Clear Liquids before surgery..ask your surgeon and see if he can clarify what he wants for you just in case. I just started my liquid diet and trying to squeeze in 5 Protein Shakes a day plus a Multivitamin shake my doctor wants me to take. For it being my first day I've survived with no cheats (yay!) I don't know how I'm going to survive the rest of the week at work, its my last week before I take off but I have a very fast paced job xD I have to figure ot out lol best of luck!

I would really check with your doctor. There is no way I could do just clear liquids for two weeks pre-op. ???? I would have cheated too.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
