Getting closer to my Band to Sleeve revision...

Here I am...a little embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed...but I am ready for the Band to Sleeve revision.

I took the plunge and had Lap-Band weight loss surgery on November 3, 2010. I worked hard to lose the weight with help from the Lap-Band, exercise, and the support of my wife, friends, and extended family. I did great and lost 115 pounds within 2 years...Unfortunately, the weight loss didn't last. I began to develop ulcers and other gastro issues and began to gain weight back (even though I had good restriction). I eventually had to have the band completely emptied...which resulted in me gaining all of my weight back (and more).

I am currently in the process of having the Gastric Sleeve revision surgery. I have gone to another seminar, filled out all of the necessary paperwork, turned in medical records, and have my nutrition and mental health evaluations scheduled for next week. So, I should be having my surgery sometime in the next 4-6 weeks...fingers crossed.

I am ready to lose weight so I can someday zip-line, go on hikes, ride in airplanes, and buy whatever clothes I want (and not be limited by the poor selections in Big & Tall sections).

Thanks for listening.

Surprisingly no i didn't. I thought I'd have to so i bought some. Was told this time no food for two days, clear liquids only before surgery. That alone had me *going* look tmi i know but it's true.

I had to do 2 weeks Pre-Op diet of mostly liquids and staying below 500-700 calories each day. Yesterday and today I have had to be on clear liquids, sop that only gets me to around 80 calories each day since I can't have sugar, carbs, fat, etc.

Tonight I get to do the awesome cleanse (TMI I know as well), but not sure what it will accomplish since I haven't had anything but liquids. lol.

Here are some words of wisdom. For sleeve, it will be difficult to get all your liquids in at first. It is critical that you do, otherwise, you may become weak and lethargic. Best way to do it is sip throughout the day.

As you progress through the post-op diet and finally get to the soft food part of the diet, you may feel that you do not get full. Be patient because you won't feel the full effect of the sleeve until you begin eating more dense Proteins, then, holy smokes you will know beyond the shadow of a doubt what full is.

Last and most important is put all your concentration on healing and following the progressive post-op diet for the first month or so and don't worry about weight loss during this time. Healing with the sleeve is much more critical at this point to prevent potential staple line leaks. Once you've been released to eat a normal diet is when your concentration turns to weight loss. jake

Thanks for the words of wisdom I got on scales and not much of weight loss still very sore from band removal and drain does not come out till Tuesday 24th, drinking still clear liquids was told to move to pudding texture but afraid to did get 45 grams of protein in yesterday from soups and protein drinks.
